Great buy

Wet weather is perfect for this coat

This jacket is comfortable, breathes really well and fit true to size…water beads and is shed from coat exceptionally well, we will see what time brings.

Early Impressions review

This is my second Decathlon Jacket of this type. They have both been extremely well designed and manufactured. This one seems to be made from a brushed nylon outer which resembles the latest Goretex fabrics. as such its probably a lot better than jackets from other manufacturers at more than double the price. Iv'e had Jackets from other brands that all cost a lot more than Decathlon ones which have lasted far less well. I use mine every day through the winter months in quite wet conditions. The last one lasted three years. This one seems to be slightly better quality. The pictures don't really do it justice it's a lot better looking and the detailing is excellent. It's a good length and fit. The sizing is accurate and the fit allows a thin insulated layer to be worn at the same time. Pockets on this are better in that the hand pockets don't fill up with rain as on my old one. Very happy with the purchase. Fantastic value.

Not great.

Whilst this jacket may have been designed and tested in the foothills of Mont Blanc, it didn't stand up to the adverse weather conditions of the English Lake District. I was soaked to the skin within a couple of hours in the rain!! Good enough for day to day use. No use for a full day on the hills in the rain. Very disappointed as this is a 3 layer waterproof and generally Decathlon equipment is quite good.

MH900 Jacket

Bought as a replacement for my Regatta Bridgedale which has kept me dry on Dartmoor for several years. Fits better, feels more robust without being uncomfortable and I can access the pockets whilst wearing my rucksack. Packs down reasonably small too. I'll by the same when I eventually have to replace it.

I have tried numers waterproof coats and they either leaked or sweat a bucket in them to the point I should not have bothered, or sometimes both situations at once. I tried this coat after it being recommended to me and it performs so well. I have climbed snowdon with it on, I kept bone dry the entire time. it fits very well, breathes very well and has good additional under arm vents if required.

Took it for a hike on Ben Lomond. Very good. Light. Just my forearm where wet when I came back, I do not know yet is it a sleeve foes not breath enough or maybe it is my body was sweating more than jacket could breathe

Main component

3-layer component with membrane

The waterproof rating of a product depends on the following two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was made with a membrane. This is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight and breathable.

3 layer design

3 layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performing jackets

Waterproof feature of the component

Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. This is done by measuring the fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product's component has a 25,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 25,000 mm water column. This is also equivalent to 25000 Schmerbers.

Waterproofness of thejacket

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. this garment has been validated in a shower test under 30 cm rain for 3 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 6 RET
