Product Customer Reviews

These shoes are great!! i ordered one size higher than I normally use in street ware. The fit is perfect for hiking. The traction you get from the tread is wonderful. These are the best hiking shoe I ever had!
Very comfortable, good grip and nice lacing system ( very useful since I often need to remove my shoes ). I didn't use them for outdoor activities yet but I'm pretty confident they will do the job.
The product is overall made of good quality materials, but it teared down. For this price it does not worth it.
Good price, but not waterproof! Although wider than Salmon, I have to stretched them for over a week and they still give me blisters to start with. I do have wide feet, "H" according to Clarks, so no great surprise. Last pair were great for 7 out of 8 months, around 3000 miles, walking mostly on pavements.
Actually a great shoe for men and women alike.....These are the best trail shoes that I have ever worn. I hike through grass, mud rocks, hard terrain and soft...they fit like a glove and have so much support and grip, even when running on the trails. If I wade through water in them, or throw them in for a quick wash, they dry easily . I loved them so much, I’m on my second pair...but it took ages for me to need a second pair as they lasted so long despite being worn constantly. Ill be sticking with these for as long as they make them.
Great quality product.
Can't complain about the performance as these shoes have performed well enough in the field (though it's worth mentioning I only walk occasionally in the less than arduous low country of the New Forest); however the mesh on the top of the shoes is fraying quite badly and the footbeds split on one of the pair after less than a year. The two year warranty seems a little optimistic.

Truly surprised. Ok, it was just first 5km fast walk, but more then enough to judge. I have usually problem with 95% od sports shoes at start, spend long month when buying new before finding the right one. This one fit on my feet perfectly in shop and perfectly on first fast walk. Had usually problems with 3 times more expensive shoes to get my feet used to.
I've only ever Fell walked in winter, it took me by surprise how warm feet get in milder weather. This was my answer. The insoles are perhaps the best quality I've seen in walking shoes, on a par with Salomon, probably better though. The midsole is soft and squashy under the foot, but not enough to make things feel vague. The outsole is quite stiff, certainly enough for it's intended use. It's also grippy enough on dry days. The friction laces work fine. They do loosen a bit, but are quick to re-tighten -overall better than normal laces. For a dry weather shoe, I can't see a need to look any further
Found these an excellent fit and very comfortable. However, whilst they have been worn extensively through the winter it is disappointing that the fabric parts at the front and side have deteriorated badly and worn through. All other component parts have worn well. Perhaps for a walking boot, the wrong material has been used.
I am sorry to hear that you have had issues with the Forclaz 500 helium hiking shoes. I have exactly the same pair and I pretty much wear them every day (admittedly round work for about 5 miles a day and use them out and about also) and I have not had any problems with them. I have found them to be a comfortable and reliable pair of shoes.
If you pop back in to your local store and you can either get them replaced or get a refund. I am hoping that this is a one off experience and would recommend giving them another go.

i was looking for a pair of shoes for work. i am on my feet all day and i have problems with my feet, so look for something sturdy and comfortable. these completely fit the bill. i will definitely buy some more of these.
I bought these over a pair of boots as they are more suited to the type of walking that I am doing. On the foot they feel like a beefy trail running shoe, as you might expect. I've yet to give them a serious test but after a couple of months of use they still look virtually brand new so I expect them to be tough. The lacing system is secure and they are pretty weatherproof, despite not having a waterproof membrane. As a result they can get quite warm.
I have tested this shoes in a forest and grass terrain. I have tested them in a 2 hours rain and they stay dry inside even after walking in a wet grass, even withot gaiters. Very comfortable inside but a little heavier. I guess it is because of the crosscontact sole. The sole works very well on dry and wet mud ot dry rock but it starting to slip on a wet rock.
Previously wore an older pair of this type of shoe from Decathlon so when they nearing the end of their useful lifespan I automatically went back for another pair. These were the closest to what I previously wore and the exact same size. The right shoe felt a bit tight around the toe area on trying them on, but I purchased them anyway assuming they would maybe stretch slightly with a bit of time. Unfortunately they havent. My previous pair had ample space and were the exact same size. Never had issues with different size feet before!
Thanks for your feedback on the Helium hiking shoes. I apologise for the discomfort caused from the pair you have recently purchased. I am certain we can exchange the model for you for another pair so see if it rectifies the problem, failing that we can look at a different model. Either drop into your local store or get in touch with our customer loyalty team online.
Thanks again

Used these on a recent trip to Arizona and Utah, hiking across some of the National Parks. Did exactly what i wanted them to do: hiking on uneven paths, climbing the odd bolder and a bit of minor climbing.

Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
