Bought this to replace similar jacket used for last 4 years and delighted with it.
Very pleased with this. Warm and waterproof so far.
Very happy with this coat, however, when unzipped, the right cuff velcro does tend to snag with the zip flap velcro!
No opportunity to wear sailing but the weather is foal in Wales anyway. The jacket is comfortable and fullfills all the criteria so far. Looking forward to wearing it at sea.

Great warm waterproof jacket
Keeps me dry and warm - good value for money.
The biggest piece of joy in this purchase was being able to get something that fit, I’m decidedly larger than average and there’s a lack of much largersizes on shop shelves
This jacket is what I wanted it to be it has the features to keep me warm and dry.
A very warm jacket and the construction is really very good. It runs true to size.
I took the chance and bought online in the knowledge that it could be returned if it wasn't suitable. Very happy with my purchase when it arrived in the post within a few days. Good design, fabric and warm lining. Not tested on the boat in the wet just yet, but it looks up to the job. As usual with this brand, the sizing is small. I usually have medium in other brands and so ordered a large which is fine. Order with confidence - if it's not suitable you can return it.

The jacket is amazing value, it's waterproof, warm, comfortable and also looks great. Would highly recommend. I was hill walking recently in horrible weather and it did the job.

Waterproofing:
The exclusive waterproof fabric is guaranteed to keep you dry – even in a downpour. In the rain simulator, the jacket stayed for 4 hours under the equivalent of a 100 L/hr/sqm storm without the tiniest drop getting through the product. The component's waterproofing is guaranteed to withstand more than 5,000 mm of water pressure.
Hood:
The hood is easily stored in the pocket built into the collar. It can be tightened with an adjustable elasticated cord equipped with two self-blocking eyelets to better protect you from the elements.
Pockets, document protection and accessories:
The inner zipper pocket lets you safely store your documents and accessories and protect them from moisture.
Wrist adjustment:
The cuffs have rip tabs so that you can adjust the fit at the wrist and prevent air and water from getting inside.
Jacket fastening:
The injection-molded plastic front and pocket zippers are oxidation-resistant, thanks to the special shape of the teeth. It has an exterior flap and a placket with a gutter that guarantees optimal waterproofing. The hem is adjusts using an adjustable elastic with a blocking eyelet.
Jacket lining:
The jacket is lined with padding combined with microfiber to provide a thermal protection of 2.33 clo.
What is breathability and the ret index?
The breathability of your jacket corresponds to its ability to let perspiration generated by the body escape. It is measured by its Resistance to Evaporative Transfer (ISO 11092 standard). The RET is a resistance index; the lower the value, the greater the breathability of the fabric. RET between 6 and 9: extremely breathable, between 10 and 13: very breathable, between 14 and 17: breathable, between 18 and 20: not very breathable, over 20: not breathable.
What is a waterproofing test or "shower test"?
Approved test in which your warm jacket is placed under a shower simulating different weather conditions. Our waterproof fabrics are certified after more than 4 hours of testing in rain of 100 L/hr/sqm to 450 L/hr/sqm depending on the product use.
Water repellent fabric:
The water repellency of your warm jacket is obtained by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment causes water to slide over the surface of the fabric without soaking in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, breathable, and warm. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime. Water-repellent treatment products are available in our stores.
How important is windproofing?
Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body significantly whether you are active or at rest. According to the "Windchill" model which measures the temperature felt depending on the wind and cold, if the temperature is 41°F combined with a 19 mph wind, the temperature felt will be 32°F. If the air temperature is 32°F and wind speed is 25 mph, the temperature felt will be 19°F.Your warm jacket counters the windchill effect.
What is the clo index?
Clo is the scale that measures the thermal resistance of your warm jacket. During the test, your technical garment's fabric is exposed to a temperature close to body temperature and a controlled outside temperature. The clo index reflects the ability of your warm jacket to retain your body heat inside the garment. The greater the clo index, the better the technical fabric will retain your body heat.
Score to compare the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators. An overall score (ABCDE) is attributed to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with one another (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.). The test re-creates storm conditions in a weather simulator. Under these conditions, after 4 hours under a rain shower of 100 L/hr/sqm, our warm jacket still kept the user dry.
Storage instructions
Store in a dry place, but do not leave your garment on a heat source such as a radiator, as this may damage the breathable coating.
Care instructions
Machine wash your Kostabero warm and waterproof jacket at 86°F, inside out with the velcro fastened and without fabric conditioner. Choose a long rinse and gentle spin cycle. Line dry if possible. Occasional tumble drying on low for a short period of time will improve the water repellent treatment. To reactivate the water repellency, you can briefly warm iron the fabric (max 230°F) or apply the Tribord re-waterproofing spray.
