Product Customer Reviews

Inner furnish under toe cap is bad causing serious scratching to the toes when descend. This is even with a shoe size that's right (not undersize) and wearing a good quality hiking socks. Too bad that you can only find this out after a real test, and then you are not able to return the product as the return policy only accept unused products. Decathlon should improve the return policy.
I’ve spent over $200 for hiking boots and still had wet feet. These keep my feet dry. Two thumbs up.
Hi Mike, wonderful news, thank you for much. We love to hear about our customer's experiences especially ones like yours. We hope to see you back on Decathlon.ca soon!
Jessie
Love these boots. Super warm, always dry,no sweat.
Hi Eddie,
We are so glad to hear you're loving the boots. Thank you for your review. We hope you have a great day! 💙
Jessie
These boots have proven to be warm, light, and very comfortable to wear. No problems in the current cold stretch of -15 C weather. I've had them on for full workdays, no problems with cold, overheating, or sweat. We'll see what the durability is like in time, but so far, they are enjoyable to wear!

I was out in the aftermath of our first snow storm a few days ago 30cm +. shoveling most of the morning, feet were toasty and dry. best ever.
It’s OK. Nothing special but OK. Can be more comfortable or more soft.
Really confortables and affordable price. I am really happy how great they look. Great to do hiking and racketing.
The alteration I made was replacing the insoles. I’m 6’2” and weigh 13 1/2 stones so hardly a Sumo wrestler but after less than 100 miles the insoles had lost all their cushioning at the heel. I’ve had Plantar Fasciitis before and as soon as my heel started hurting I stopped wearing the boots until I’d replaced the insoles. I got a pair of Scholl gel ones for £11 from Amazon and they’ve transformed the boots. They’re the most comfortable boots I’ve had and I’ve paid big money for top brands in the past only to end up disappointed. The soft cuff at the top of the ankle seals well and stops debris getting in as well as making walking in them very comfortable. They’ve been used for a few hundred miles now through mud, snow, ice, slush and hard rocks and been fantastic. No signs of wear and very robust. Easy to clean too. I’ve stood in streams and no water has got in. Other more expensive boots have failed within a lot less time than I’ve had these. The soles are very grippy too in snow and mud. The only thing that’s let them down were the insoles. After replacing them they’re without doubt the best I’ve had. Not fair to give them 4 stars when a cheap improvement made them perfect.
Pleasantly surprised, lightweight but very comfortable, great value.
It is always hard to find good shoes for my husband, which don't cost a fortune. He is EU size 48 or UK 12-13 Couldn't be happier with these ones. Great fit for a slim foot. Very warm. He wears them for Monroe bagging in Winter in Scotland.
Have used a lot lately very good for waterproof and warmth even waded a river in them dried out and great again still no sure on grip found a bit slippy on rocks poles saved me lots will keep trying them happy so far
Continued .......I bought these shoes for Iceland aurora borealis hunting. It was kind of first sight love as team is my favourite colour. After trying locally well for 2-3 days I had a great aurora borealis hunting on 20th December 2021 in a freezing cold night in wilds and these shoes "OH MY GOD" . I am a runner by nature. So not of a "walks" person. But I am loving walking in these that much that I have included walks twice in a week instead of daily run. They are as comfy from bottom that you can compare softness of the body weight push on that front sole like if you are wearing asics nimbus. Now coming to the waterproofing part, you can literally replace them with your wellies. In wellies you can not do 20 km walk but in these shoes it is easy peasy giving you as dry comfort as wellies. Tried and tested waterproofing with deliberate attempts to go in middle of several puddles but superb dryness. I am going to buy another pair as spare. Definitely in same colour too.
I used altbergs for serious wet weather but these are really supportive and have fantastic grip
Very good boots
Nice light boots only time will tell how long they will last so can’t coment on long term value

These waterproof and warm shoes will provide you with very good hold for snowshoeing. the snowcontact sole
We have selected warm and insulating materials for this shoe, providing good protection against snow and cold. We have tested it in the laboratory and in the field with our user representatives. We checked the temperature up to which it stays comfortable when you're stationary and when you're walking, as this varies a lot: 25°F when static and 3°F when moving. And we took into account how temperature is felt differently by men and women.
How do your shoes protect you from outdoor conditions?
Your shoes have been designed with a membrane to ensure optimal water-resistance. A membrane is a very thin component (5 to 25 micrometers) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering while allowing moisture to escape. While you stay warm in your shoes, your feet will also stay dry. The sole insulates from the cold coming from contact with snow.
Breathable shoes for optimal thermal comfort
Thermal comfort is a balance between the warmth of the boots and its ability to allow the foot to breathe. Too much heat or not enough breathability, damp accumulates and cold can set in. We have designed your shoes with your activity in mind, regular and sometimes intense, with a membrane whose role is to prevent water from entering on one side while allowing moisture to escape on the other.
How can you be sure that your shoes are 100% waterproof?
We made sure that your shoes are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests to simulate walking with the boots half submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk) and 8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk). This model of boot has been tested with up to 8,000 flexes, which is equivalent to 10 miles of walking.
What is the difference between traction and snorkeling?
The traction of the shoes depends on the number and shape of the studs. The grip is dependent on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like the tires of your car. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents the boot from slipping backwards when going uphill and stabilizes the boot. Grip prevents the shoe from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, ice) by giving grip to the sole."
What is the purpose of the snowcontact technology on the soles of your shoes?
The SNOWCONTACT soles are designed using a specific component and stud pattern (5 mm) to provide the best possible grip and traction. SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow. When walking on ice, the only way to ensure optimum safety is to add anti-slip grips to your boots.
Why is it important to be supported in a hiking boot?
The support provided by your shoe is essential for your comfort when walking. Indeed, good support optimizes your steps on hilly terrains (ascent and descent), prevents your foot from sliding in the shoe and reduces the occurrence of blisters. There is less loss in the transmission of your energy to the shoe and therefore less fatigue. This is especially important when you are snowshoeing.
Are your shoes suitable for snowshoeing?
We designed these shoes for hiking on snow, with or without snowshoes. The upper of the shoe (mid-height type) combined with gaiters (external or integrated in the pants), provides good protection against snow getting in. Waterproof and warm, their support and rigidity are more suitable for walking with snowshoes.
Will your shoes withstand regular use over the long term?
Our engineers conduct laboratory tests to fully guarantee your satisfaction in use. We validate the following elements among other things: strength of the eyelets and straps, strength of the glued assemblies, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the sole and upper components and accelerated aging.
How to choose the right footwear for snow hiking?
"To be well equipped in winter, we recommend that you follow these principles : Warmth: increase heat with warm socks (ideally with a suitable % of wool) Breathability: Choose your socks depending on the intensity of the hike and wear breathable models to limit damp. Height of the boots: adapt the height of the socks to the height of the upper and opt for hi-top styles if you need more protection. "
How should you preserve the technical qualities of your shoes?
The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let the water slide off its surface, without absorbing it. In this way, the fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied on the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. Products (spray or liquid) designed specifically for this purpose are available in our stores.
The perfect outfit for hiking in cold weather
We designed these shoes as one of the elements of the perfect set for your cold-weather hikes: the SH500 set. Equipped with your pants, your SH500 fleece, SH520 shoes and your SH500 snowshoes, you will be able to enjoy your snow excursions whatever the weather, or almost. In any case, there's no need to wait for ideal conditions or to take everything with you in your rucksack, but you can travel light and well-equipped!
