Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To refresh the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimize your clothing's performance throughout its lifetime. We recommend using these products with each wash.
How the recommended temperature is measured
Ambient temperature is thermally neutral: the user feels neither hot nor cold. Use temperature, in accordance with standard ISO 11079, under the following conditions: Walking at 2.5 mph, no wind, cloudy. Jacket worn together with: upper body: long-sleeved T-shirt + shirt + sleeveless down gilet / lower body: tights + fleece base layer + pants / head: chapka + hood / hands: under-gloves + gloves / feet: ski socks + boots.
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a 2000 mm impermeability therefore resists pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a 2-hour downpour).
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 16 gallons of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapor generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9
Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. A fabric becomes water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment needs to be repeated during the garment's lifetime (we recommend after every wash). Water repellent treatment products are available in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
A note to compare the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators.
An overall score of ABCDE is calculated to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.).
For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority.

To help you dress effectively, Quechua - in partnership with Stratermic and Oxylane Research - provides you with recommended usage temperatures for its "extreme cold" product lines. Tests are carried out in an environmental chamber to measure the thermal insulating properties of products on a dummy. These results are complemented by physiological research carried out by Oxylane Research teams to calculate the sensation of hot/cold as if in real world use.
