Inflating Power of down/feather filling
This 90/10 padded gilet has a guaranteed minimum fill power of 800 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.
The advantages of duck down and feather filling*
The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking:
- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Ultra-lightweight: with equal warmth feather is lighter than synthetic padding. Which makes your backpack lighter
*Our feathers come from Chinese ducks raised for their meat, we collect their feathers after they have been killed.
Care advice for a gilet filled with down and feathers.
The gilet can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our tips by clicking the link below:
The advantages of a gilet
A gilet helps to keep the body warm: It protects the chest, neck and kidneys from cold, particularly sensitive to cooling.
Sleeveless, it allows more weight in the backpack, more breathability during exercise, and excellent comfort when worn under a jacket during movement.
Worn underneath the Full Down padded jacket, it can provide 11°F extra warmth when compared to a down jacket worn without gilet.
In the event of rain
This gilet's fabric is water repellent. It allows drops of water to slide off the fabric which delays penetration of water into the gilet while you get out of the rain. But the gilet is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the gilet in the event of prolonged exposure to rain.
