Excellent Bag

For a 40L Backpack this one is excellent. It’s user friendly and perfectly suits my comfort. Compartments are ok. Can’t wait to use it in a Benguet trekking.

Practical & Value for Money

Bag's material is water resistant, durable and to a certain extent, dirt resistant. Padding's on back provide firm support and comfort. Simple design with sufficient internal pockets & easy access zip from bottom of bag, also has a side pouch for small items on waist strap. Overall a practical & value-for-money bag.

Perfect for 1-2 day hikes

Usually I carry a lot of stuff even if it is a single day hike. Camera gear itself takes a lot of space. I was using a 30L backpack for a long time which used to get completely stuffed. The waist support on this 40L is the best thing as it takes a lot of weight off the shoulder. It actually feels lighter and easier than the 30L despite carrying more weight. In light rain, the water repellent property is sufficient as well so a rain cover is always not required. Pretty happy with the space and comfort.

Recommended!

We used this backpack on our Mt. Fuji climb. This is where we put most of our stuff like change of clothes, jackets, food supplies, and other hiking essentials. The backpack is lightweight and with ventilated back. We loved that the support belt has a small pocket where you can put your phone, some cash, and some trail food. It's so convenient and accessible. We also liked the mesh side pockets because they are quite deep compared to other hiking backpacks available in the market. If you put your water bottle or hiking pole on the side, they will surely not fall down. The downside is that it doesn't have its own rain cover and the top load pocket isn't adjustable. Anyway, a separate orange rain cover is available for sale on Decathlon which fits perfectly on this backpack. We recommend this for short hikes.

Best for Mountain trekking

Spacious, Water Proof, tough and tear resistant

great backpack

I used this backpack for my mountain trekking and travelling. It has been great. There are enough slots and compartments for me to neatly organise my things. The back cushion was a pretty good support. However it would be good if it's a little more waterproof.

Laboratory test

We conduct laboratory tests to validate the components:fabrics, buckles, straps, foam padding, zippers, etc. For example, for a fabric:resistance to wear tearing washing water-resistance and colorfastness under UV rays. Then a test on the finished product that simulates the kind of treatment to which it will be subjected over several years,to assess the strength of the assembly:the rucksack is weighted then placed on a dummy which then reproduces the movement of fast walking over thousands of cycles

10-year warranty, technical partnership

The heavy fabric research and development department, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating the aging of rucksacks. These tests were conducted on the components, seams and finished product. Quechua uses the results to guarantee the bags tested for a period of 10 years, starting from the date of purchase indicated on the receipt.

10-year warranty, conditions

The warranty covers the defects of the rucksack, excluding those resulting from normal wear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty is only valid on presentation of the product and receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. This commercial warranty does not exclude applicable legal warranties depending on the country and/or State.

How is volume measured?

The volume of each rucksack is measured using a standardized method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in liters.

How to adjust your rucksack?

1 - Loosen all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjuster straps). 2 - Put the rucksack on. 3. - For bags of 50 L and more, place the strap on your hips (it should cover the hip bones of the pelvis) and tighten it. For smaller rucksacks, the belt should be placed around the waist. 4 -Tighten the shoulder straps. 5 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.

How to pack a rucksack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Place the heavy equipment close to your back. Pack your clothes around these items. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece to hand. In the pockets, place the small equipment that you use during the day (sunblock, map, sunglasses, etc). The water pouch should be placed in the specially designed compartment normally found along the back of the bag.

Environmental measures

The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire lifespan, using various indicators. An overall score is assigned from A to E to help easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, pants, rucksacks etc). Decathlon is committed to displaying environmental information about its products. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
