Product Customer Reviews

I initially ordered the Large based on the fitment guide. I have softshell climbing pants from MH and OR and I wear a medium. With the large they were so tight I would not be able to wear a thermal layer underneath for cold mountain pursuits. Pro's - love the stretchy fabric and give in the knees and hips, lower leg inside material is nice to be more robust but not sure how it will do against a crampon. I will find out this weekend. Right thigh pocket is deep and flush to the thigh so it sits really flat against the thigh. Con's - the hip pockets are not well constructed, the mesh is perfect but the fabric in the corners is clumsy and bulky. I would have preferred a stich pattern like the thigh pocket but all in mesh. The waist band and belt system could be constructed better, it bunches up in some areas and sags in other which makes using a harness with these pants more cumbersome. My plan is to use these pants for Alpine Skiing, mountain climbing and cold weather hiking.
Outstanding product and construction!
Its 29" fits a bit tight for my waist 30", but I like it. It is still comfortable with its all-way stretch fabric. I fell a bit hot when wearing in summer time. It is prefect for the weather in autumn for hiking and biking.
I really like the pants so far.
Love these pants. They are now my go-to outdoors pants. Fits very well and moves with you. But fabric is a bit fragile to wear.
I'd happily give these 5 starts as they're brilliant but they come up too short for the stated length. I am 1.83cm (6 foot) and with an inseam of 34", 76kg athletic build. I purchased size L which is listed as having a 34.65" inseam. But when I tried them on they were above my ankles when standing upright. With walking boots on, the bottom of the legs were only just touching the top of the boots, so there would be no protection against puddles, cold wind, dust, stones or snow if hiking. Furthermore, they have scuff guards to protect from crampons, but you'd then expect the trouser leg to at least cover the top of the boots otherwise you could easily catch your ankles. Personally I'd not wear these without gaiters. Perhaps I misunderstood what these were for as I thought moutaineering meant serious hiking and climbing which can mean walking through snow, but when I asked in the store I was told these are more for climbing and not hiking. To add to the confusion, I already own Simond grey stretchy climbing trousers in size M and they're the correct length for me, so the notion that Simond mountaineering trousers are shorter than traditional hiking trousers isn't always true. While in the store, I then tried on these Forclaz trousers (https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-trousers/_/R-p-108842) in size L, and they were 2 inches longer than these Alpinism Simond trousers, so when wearing with boots the entire top cuff and tongue of the boots are neatly covered even when I bend my legs - perfect. So to summarise, if your waist is 34" and your inseam 32" these Simond trousers will be perfect. Or if you're just wearing rock climbing shoes, they're be fine, but given the material I'm sure they're designed for winter ascents with crampons, hence I'm confused about the design here. I'll welcome feedback from Decathlon support as I'm a big fan of their Simond range.
Gret Fit, Great Quality, Good Price for the product, would recommend.
They feel like a second skin. If you like walking them get get a pair of these!
This is my 3rd pair of these walking trousers, can't imagine walking in anything else now, they are everything I want in a walking trouser.
These trousers USED to be excellent. They have now reduced the quality of these and they are a lot thinner than my other 4 pairs I have. The material is different and when I received these I bagged them up and posted them back. This new version is poorer quality in comparison to the older version of these. I would not recommend them whatsoever.
