Great shoes for cycling, trekking or fishing

Disappointment

I've already tried several pairs of QUECHUA shoes and they've always been OK. This model is the first time I've been completely disappointed. The first exit and... Painful pressure around the forefoot (at the height of the lace start) took away all the joy of the trip. Despite walking a lot of kilometers and trying to loosen the laces, the situation did not improve at all. After a few days, a second, this time control outing over a shorter distance - a similar situation. Maybe I don't have the narrowest foot, but I didn't have such problems in the previous few pairs of this brand, so if it's not a defect of this particular pair, then this model is probably made for narrow feet. I have no objections to the cushioning, breathability and grip... However, on the other hand, when you are struggling with pain while walking, it is difficult to objectively evaluate anything else.

Quality does not justify value = No Value for Money

I'll start by mentioning that the model is comfortable, has excellent breathability and good cushioning, but the material lacks quality at pressure points. In just 3 months and 6 weekend hikes in the Serra de Sintra, the fabric next to the little finger broke and the laces came off on both. Being double the First Price product, higher quality would be expected. Because I believe in sharing experience to improve the product, I submitted it to a store for evaluation and, surprisingly, it was all the customer's fault. When reading responses to comments, they are always based on the same arguments, that the score is high, it was tested in Mont Blanc and many customers recommend it. It's a shame that Decathlon doesn't take advantage of customer sharing to evolve, in this case the fabric, when there are many comments with the same problem: 1. Summer (Spain), "The fabric is super fragile", 19/09 2. Carlos (Spain) ), "Flojitos, 07/09 3. Martin (Belgium), "1 an et en bout de vie", 28/08 4. Gregory (France), "Produit non durable", 04/05 5. Some others The conclusion is that some Decathlon brand products (Quechua/Kalenji/etc.) are cheaper than industry brands (Merrell, Columbia/etc.), after all, they are more expensive because the quality is much lower

Shoes worn out ideas

The tongue of the shoe is too thin, and the tongue is also shorter. The comfort that can be improved will be better.

they break!

It will have lasted me 3 months. The fabric surface is torn.

not comfortable at all

The so-called sneakers are not comfortable at all. After wearing them for 5 hours, my feet are literally cooked. The plastic front part opens my fingers. The tongue of the shoe constantly folds.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Outer sole of: 50.0% Rubber, 50.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate ; Upper of: 60.0% Polyester, 40.0% Polyurethane ; Lining and sock of: 100.0% Polyester

We have reduced our environmental impact on this product

45.6% of the boot’s weight is eco-designed:- 40% recycled polyester main material for the upper, mesh, laces, and loops- Lining: 100% recycled polyester used for the blue/yellow model (reference 8626273) and the brown model (reference 8626275) or dope dyed for the black/yellow model (reference 8626277)- 30% biosourced (sugar cane) midsole- 30% recycled tire rubber outer sole

Resistant soles for walking trails

Our hiking boots are designed for use on hiking trails. Indeed, the materials of the sole and upper of our boots are selected and tested to ensure that they are as well suited as possible to hiking on soft trails (e.g. dirt paths in forests) or stony trails (rocky coastal footpaths). Road use (asphalt) may lead to premature wear on your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.

Tested for durability and optimal resistance

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: tearing eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion-resistance of outsole and upper materials, accelerated aging. These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear of our hiking boots.

What socks should you wear with the quechua escape 500 fresh boots?

We recommend that you choose a pair of socks made of polyamide, without cotton. Polyamide is a fiber that is specially chosen for its capacity to eliminate moisture. So when you sweat, the socks made of polyamide will eliminate any moisture. Then, your boots will take over the task of wicking away the moisture to the outside via the ventilated mesh. For this, we recommend the Newfeel WS500 Fresh socks.

Why choose recycled polyester?

Main material of the upper, mesh, laces, and lace loops in 40% recycled polyester. Lining 100% recycled polyester for blue/yellow and brown colors. By recycling plastic bottles or used textiles to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of petroleum-based resources while preserving the qualities and performance of the material for your hikes.

Our commitment to consume less water

We use this mass pigmentation for the black/yellow colors (reference 8626277). Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce our environmental impact, we use a mass pigmentation process that involves adding the color pigments when the thread itself is produced.

Product testing

It’s in France, at the foot of Mont Blanc, that our design team conceives, designs, and creates Quechua products. We test them in the field with other hikers, to check their comfort and durability. Fontainebleau Forest, Brittany, or in Corsica for example. We go to as many different places as possible, in all weather conditions. This creates plenty of opportunities for discussions to get your feedback, which is used to plan our future products!

Storage instructions

Keep your boots in a dry, dark, and, if possible, ventilated place, and away from sources of heat.
