Nice, very practical jacket

This jacket is very practical. It has large pockets, a visor on the hood and adjustments at the waist, cuffs and neck to protect against the wind. I just hope the slides are strong enough because that's often the number one problem with this kind of item.

Very good value for money

Very good jacket overall, I just regret the tightness of the seams under the arms like there was on the old model that I have been using for years, and I find it a little too heavy

Beautiful and practical. Used it in the downpour for hours and it held up very well

waterproof jacket

excellent fit.

A good investment

Used for commuting trips, this raincoat protects very well from rain and wind. It's breathable enough to avoid ending up soaked in sweat (which wasn't the case with all my other raincoats). The fitted cut, the Velcro cuffs and the positioning of the exterior pockets are also very practical when cycling.

Perfect jacket!

I already had the Quechua jacket from the old days, the black color is more sober, more suitable for everywhere now. On the technical side, very good in terms of waterproofing, fairly tight size compared to classic jackets. The jacket is well ventilated, the zippers are very large and the pockets are very practical! The collar on the neck goes up very high, be careful if you turn your head a lot, this could bother you in the long run. For the price I clearly recommend the jacket, especially when we look at the competition and the price at which it is that of a fairly recent brand starting with an A and ending with an X. Thank you Decathlon, another great job :)

Good product

An improvement would be the front part of the hood more extended for more effective protection during precipitation, plus the side part

Excellent material.

Excellent windproof and very breathable. The dark green color is suitable for both hiking and everyday wear. I really like this jacket!

Main component

3-layer component with membrane

Membrane

The waterproof rating of a product depends on the following two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was made with a membrane. This is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight and breathable.

Layer design

3 layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performing jackets

Component waterproofing

Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. To this end, the resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm (JIS 1092 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product's component has a 25,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 25,000 mm water column. This is also equivalent to 25000 Schmerbers.

Water resistance of the jacket

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 18 cm rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Breathability

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 6 RET

How to restore the water-repellent properties

A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the waterproof spray (ref 8554908)

Product testing

Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. As well as numerous field tests, we test products in a laboratory according to the desired properties (e.g.: shower test for waterproofness, wind tunnel test for windproof properties, etc.).
