Ticks All The Boxes

Has extra room around torso for a relaxed fit, hood has more adjustment points for a custom fit, plenty of pockets including inside jacket. Recommend.

Great vented waterproof

Wanted a lightweight waterproof coat with pit zips but couldn't afford to pay £200+! Decathlon have done it again...brilliant coat at a bargain price. Highly recommend. Tip..always buy a size up as their sizing is definitely on the small side.

Great Jacket

Purchased a size larger than usual so I could wear a thicker fleece under it in the winter months. Great jacket with lots of pockets and adjustable features.

Hello Emma,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

Have a good day,

Great Jacket

All the features that you need, thin enough to take in a rucksack but comfortable enough to wear all day. I have fully tested this waterproof working outside for three very soggy days and have had no leakage through zips or cuffs. Very pleased with my purchase, so much so by mum has also ordered one!

Fantastic jacket

Fantastic jacket for a relatively low price. I bought the green version which looks sporty, not frumpy like some waterproof jackets. I've not yet tried it in very heavy rain, but it has so far kept me dry in light to moderate showers. I think it's lightweight - although the reviewers in Country Walking did not, but it's all relative compared with what you're used to. Hood is deep & highly adjustable with a decent peak to keep rain off the face/glasses. The cut-away part at eye-level is great - I can finally use peripheral vision while wearing a hood! Under arm vents are a nice feature. Haven't particularly noticed that they make a huge difference yet, but as we move into warmer weather perhaps I'll come to be thankful for them. Sleeves are too long for me, but I have short arms, and this is always an issue for me. I just fold the excess material under, & if there's heavy rain, unfold & use the zelcro adjustments as intended. The main zip does come up quite high (covers my chin) & pulls tight against your face. This is great when raining, as it prevents leakage. If it's not raining & you want to zip it, but keep it under your chin, I recommend tucking the corners of the unzipped part underneath so it doesn't irritate you. Again this was noticed in Country Walking, but my solution mostly overcomes this design flaw. Unzipped inner pocket can hold a water bottle when jacket is not zipped as the opening is at the top. Zipped outer & inner pockets are nice & secure. I initially wished it had a outer zip cover so there could be an externally accessible inner map pocket at chest level (where I used to keep my phone), but as this would add to the weight & I've found alternate solutions, it's not a deal breaker at all. In fact I've found that it "only" having 4 pockets (my previous had 6!) stops me from overloading the jacket with stuff, & I've found better ways to carry things. I bought a size up so I could fit a fleece underneath. I like the looser fit even without the fleece. I've not washed it yet, but have spot-cleaned a few sections. I was delighted at how easily the dirt came off. I'd previously not considered Decathlon for walking clothes, but this jacket has converted me! Next stop: lightweight but stretchy walking trousers!

Great Quality, and looks really good

Does exactly what i needed. Waterproof and comfortable for my long walks.

Additional Product Information

Main fabric

  • 22% Polyester cationic
  • 78% Polyamide

  • 100% Polyurethane

  • 26% Spandex
  • 74% Polyester cationic

  • 20% Spandex
  • 80% Polyamide

This jacket has a fitted cut. The fabric is 13% spandex and the “raglan” sleeves up to the collar give better stretchability and more freedom of movement during your hikes. A warm layer, such as a fleece or a light padded jacket, can be worn underneath. You can choose your usual size, or a size above if you don't want it to be worn fitted.

The adjoining hood is adjustable in height and depth thanks to an elastic drawcord. Stiff visor for maximum face protection. The little detail that makes the difference: a triangular opening on the side of the hood for better visibility to the sides.

Jacket structure / 3 layers

This jacket is made up of 3 layers, the best protection there is on the market: The membrane is glued between the inner and outer component layer (hence it being called 3 layers). The membrane is a kind of very thin polyurethane film that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is protected by knitted fabric and has the advantage of being softer, lighter, more durable, and often more breathable than a coating.

Waterproofness test

The waterproof rating is measured by the fabric's resistance to water pressure expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The component of this product has a waterproof rating of 15,000 mm, i.e. it can withstand the pressure exerted by a 15,000 mm column of water. This is also equivalent to 15,000 Schmerbers.

Breathability test

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapor generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: little breathability Our product has a 6 RET rating

Product design: our expertise

Our Quechua global design center is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc) and outdoor sports enthusiasts. A great asset for designing your hiking products and providing you with all our expertise.

How to restore the water-repellent properties of my jacket?

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface; however, this property may deteriorate with use.

Our environmental approach

We are aware that we need to act to preserve our natural playground, therefore Quechua is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its products. Thanks to a more technical component, our MH500 jackets are lighter, reducing their CO2 emissions by 28% on average. This is still not enough and that's why we are working to make this jacket 100% eco-designed one day.

A score for comparing products' environmental impact

A product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire lifecycle using various indicators. A score from A to E is produced to help you make a responsible choice. This rating is used to easily identify the products with the best environmental performance. This is done by making a comparison between products of the same family (e.g. backpacks). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of this environmentally-friendly labeling approach.

Product testing

Our Decathlon SportsLab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. It brings together 4 themes, each with their own area and technological tools: Morphology (especially thanks to the 3D analysis) Movement sciences Thermal comfort (with its 4 climatic chambers) Behavioral and sensory sciences + we describe the specific aspects of the test related to the product (e.g. shower, wind tunnel, etc.)
