Not really waterproof

Very comfortable but when they got wet they started to smell in the inside which leads me to believe they are not waterproof… ok for summer or dry walks… Would not buy again for this reason.

fabulous boots - pls don't discontinue!

Had these over a year. I wear them all the time and they are still in great condition. I live in the wet Pennines and they have never leaked despite going through bogs and moorland. I have very slippery cobbles outside my house and they have excellent grip - almost as good as my Docs and infinitely less slippy than regular walking boots. They are incredibly comfy and light, and also warm. My only slight quibble is that the laces are a bit thin. I love them so much, I came to buy some more, even thought there is a lot of wear left - very disappoiinted to see they are sold out.. Please please please don't discontinue production!

.

Brilliant shoe. Great in all conditions.

Not suitable for country walks

The toe box is narrower than expected. The grip of the sole is awful, slightly wet and muddy underfoot means your slipping. And most recently the stitching is coming undone inside at the back of the heel causing it to rub my foot and be uncomfortable. I only got these 2 months ago so I'm sorely disappointed.

Tight around the bridge of the foot

Beautiful waterproof boots, although uncomfortable because they are too tight around the bridge of my feet. Couldn't use them much.

Waterproof but no grip on wet surface

The most waterproof show I've ever owned a little on the snug size despite going half a size up. Unfortunately rubbish for walking in the countryside when it's wet as they do not grip at all so you just slip everywhere.

Nice looking light weight shoe, poor sizing

Nice light weight shoe, but not the most comfortable. I'm a UK size 7.5 or 8 so purchased a size 42, but they are too small. Also there is not much arch support.

So tight it hurt my feet the first time I wore

I've never had any issues with Quechua products, but unfortunately, the boots are way too tight and I am not a wide fit usually. I couldn't walk a mile without having to stop to completely loose my laces so it wouldn't hurt so much. I love the ECO-concept, but as I've seen in other reviews, perhaps there is a serious problem with the design.

Great walking boots

Very comfortable boots, quite lightweight which helps going through muddy places!. Sizing is very accurate. I love walking in these.

Loved them but 350km’ish in and not watertight

These are fabulously comfortable boots but, 350km’ish in they are not watertight at all and the last two walks across wet fields have ended up with me starting to get wet feet a km in and by the time I’m home squelching. So disappointed and not sure I would recommend if you want to keep your feet dry

Just the right fit

Nice outlook and design, the size is perfectly fit. Exactly what I looking for.

Comfortable, quality, walking boots

These boots are excellent. I love how comfortable they feel and how they mitigate the bumps on certain grounds. The laces are a bit too thin for my liking, and I do not think they fit the quality of these boots, but they are easily replaceable and it does not grant withdrawing a star because of it. Another thing I love a lot about these boots is that on each ankle at the top there are two loops (NOT HOOKS) to secure the boots to your ankles. I love the design too.

Dog walker

Really comfy, light but feel sturdy. Have been waterproof so far walking in wet fields. Hope this continues in the winter. Not too keen on thin laces but that is personal preference and easily remedied. Good value, so far so good.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Upper of: 60.0% Leather - Bovine - Full Grain, 30.0% Polyester (PES) - Recycled, 10.0% Polyurethane ; Outer sole of: 60.0% Rubber - Synthetic, 40.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate ; Lining and sock of: 100.0% Polyester (PES) - Recycled

Hi-grip soles on off-road trails

This sole’s design is the result of long-term research carried out in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and resistance. Given the variety of different needs, we always seek the best compromise between muddy off-road trails (like a forest path) and stony trails (like a coastal path).

Designed for use on off-road trails.

Our walking boots are designed for use on off-road trails. We select the components of the sole and upper of our boots and test them to ensure that they are ideally suited to walking on loose trails (e.g. unpaved forest paths) or rocky trails (e.g. rocky coastal paths). Road use (asphalt) may lead to premature wear on your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain walking.

Where does our leather come from?

We use a leather known as “nubuck”. It has a soft and silky touch. The leather used for these boots is of bovine origin. We do not kill any animals to obtain this leather: we only use leather waste from the agrofood industry. The leather for these boots comes from French hides that are then tanned in Spain.

How to care for your leather boots

After hikes, we suggest that you:- Leave your boots to dry near a heat source- Using a hard-bristled brush, brush the dry leather vigorously to remove any mud and dirt - Use a soft-bristled brush or nubuck eraser to remove any stains- For stubborn stains, clean using a brush and a little warm water.- Leave to dry- Brush again using a hard-bristled brush- Spray with a waterproofing product: this will make the leather shine and bring out the colors

Waterproofing test

These boots feature a membrane that has been laboratory and field tested to ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing

When tested for waterproofness, we test 3 levels of waterproofness:- Flexed 2000 times, approx. 2 hours’ walking- flexed 4000 times, approx. 4 hours’ walking- flexed 8000 times, approx. 8 hours’ walkingThe NH500 Mid WP Women’s Boots were laboratory tested to withstand being flexed 8000 times. This means that they stay waterproof for up to 8 hours’ walkingObviously, once they have dried out, they regain all of their original waterproofing properties.

How to keep your boots waterproof

We recommend you use a waterproofing spray product on your boots several times a year, to restore their water-repellent properties and to prevent staining.

Laboratory tested

Laboratory trials are conducted to test the following elements: tearing of the eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and components of the upper, accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.

Product testing

Our design team devises, dreams up and designs the Quechua product range at the foot of Mont Blanc in France. We test them in the field with other hikers to make sure that they are comfortable and hard-wearing (e.g. Fontainebleau forest, Brittany). We head out onto as many different terrains as possible, in all weather conditions. These sessions involve a lot of discussions. We use these to get your feedback and prepare our future collections!

Storage instructions

We recommend you store your boots in a dry place away from damp and direct sunlight, with ventilation if possible.
