Product Customer Reviews
Had this bike for 2 weeks now, and racked up 250km+ commuting to work through Central London. Really happy with this bike, its weight, how it handles and the build quality. Would recommend as a cheap, entry level road bike -suits me as a fast commuter bike, but also now looking to do longer touring rides on it. I'm 6ft 2 and 105kg, and an XL is very comfortable. Seat can be a little tough after 90 minutes, but some cycling shorts make you forget that.
Cannot better this for £249. By the way the recent review by Neil is confusing this bike with his previous Triban which was, I guess, the better equipped (gears, carbon fork etc) Triban 3 which was £249 a few years ago when I bought it. This is now available as the similar but light weight Triban 500 all for a bargain £349. Try and get a light weight carbon front fork bike elsewhere for that cash, rival store aka big ‘H’ would choke on the price lol.
If you're expecting an upgrade on technology and performance of past Tribans, this isn't the right option for you. I have been happy with the Triban I bought for £249.00 around 5 years ago, until it gave up the ghost last week. I purchased this bike expecting it to at least be as good, but it's really not. The gear range is barely good enough for a leisurely ride (at both ends of the scale), and the shifter being on the bars is like stepping back in time. Reviews say it 'takes getting used to', but with the brakes being so far away from the shifter I can't help thinking it was made by someone who has never ridden before - it's completely counter-intuitive and unnatural.
MICHAEL, Road Cycling Leader, DECATHLON
Not the greatest bike in the world. But for £250, including lights and bell, great value for money. Seems sturdy enough for a larger than average rider - I'm 110 kilos. And I really like the hybrid tyres. I also like the 'Mega Range' gear. I've done a couple of hundred kilometres in past 3 weeks since I bought it and it rides well. I could write a long list of omissions or things where the manufacturer might have upped the specification. But that would be missing the point given the price.
Initially I liked it. The initial assembling was very easy. Everything that was assembled was tight. All were ok untill 3rd week of use. The tube in the front tyre got punctured on 3rd week. Was using in a normal bike roads.
Bought this bike from my local shop yesterday, rode it around 20 miles so far and I must say I absolutely love my new bike. Surprisingly, it offers good value for money came with everything I need pair of lights bell etc. Also, this could be the most affordable cyclocross bike one could find definitely worth its price!
Good quality bike Worth the money
When I was in China, I started using the bikes of Decathlon and my type was Triban500. Because of the high cost-effective of Decathlon, I decided to purchase Triban100 in the US and it is a very great bike which fits the road in Seattle which is not so flat (it satisfies my daily commute needs). However, I highly recommended Triban520 or Ultra900/940 if you want a high speed during your cycling on the up-hills.
The bike is exactly what you would expect for the money. Light frame, calliper brakes/v-brakes, 7 gears. Definitely worth the buy if your on a budget.
Wow get bike for money great service other that halfors decathlon are The best
The bike offers excellent value for the money. I have it for almost 3 months and over 1500 Km done on road. It behaves better than expected from the price it has. The derailleur cable tension needs ajsusted every few hundred Km, but it can be easily done by hand just rotating the barrel adjusters to the optimum position. Unfortunatelly the quality of the inner tube which came with the bike is exactly opposite: the tube failed on the welded joins due to the poor build quality or poor testing and inspection process. It's a pitty Decahhlon does not invest more in the quality of inner tubes and tyres. Will need to go to another supplier for good quality tyres and inner tubes.
I purchased this bike in France. They did in a cracking fluorescent yellow, much better than the model available in the UK. I covered 360 miles on some Cat 4s on the TDF route in Brittany. It copes well and was a pleasure to ride. Ride position higher than racing bike which felt good on all terrain. Centre gear shift is a bit Heath Robinson and you need to plan ahead. Tyres were great on dry roads. On wet roads no and I almost lost control as they like to slide when brakes applied. The rubber is a soft composite, so makes sense it’s better in the dry. I’ve changed them for a pair of Schwalbes. Brakes not uber responsive. You are also limited on the climbs you can attempt because of the gearing, but it is fine for most routes. It is great on Backwoods trails and gravel trails. Loads of fun. Also the bike was cheaper in France, despite the rubbish exchange rate; £230!
It’s super stable, does curves beautifully and is a really smooth ride! Great quality for the price
My last bike was a very heavy city hybrid bike, so I am amazed of what I can do with this one. It's light and fast (although expect proper racing bikes overtaking you, of course). Going uphill is not a problem either. Wheels are fine for what I wanted for (road lanes here are not in a good condition...). It came very well packed inside a giant box and after 30 minutes I was cycling. I am 180cm tall and size L is fine for me.
On the same day my hand built DA wheels ( I paid £400 for these from another shop ) were returned, still broken, from a Shimano rejected warranty claim, my B'twin 100 also turned up on a well organised delivery, setup bike in seconds, put some m520 pedals on it & off I went. I use bikes at 10x the price of this and its already my favourite, why you might ask? Well, its fun for a start, its comfortable & it fits the purpose as a very cheap winter commuter bike / gravel bike, at same avg speed HR is about 10bpm more to light summer bike, maxed at 31mph so far. For commute&dabble in off-road buy one! No brainer!
