This is my second oilskin having left the first in Wales last year. The coat is a high quality product that I expect from Decathlon and keeps me dry. I have shopped at Decathlon in many different countries including China, Singapore, UK and Spain and always been very happy with the products I purchased. I expect to visit the outlets in Barcelona and Bilbao this month to pick more wonderful items. Very happy that Decathlon has now opened in Melbourne!
Last minute purchase for a sailing event. For the price I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Well made, good material, which kept me dry and didn't make me sweat much, even when rowing off-shore. All in all a good, basic, waterproof which does the job and costs very little. Decathlon is quickly becoming my go-to site for sports equipment.
Thanks for this great review - newcomers to Decathlon are often surprised by the quality offered for the price paid. The Tribord team have been working on making a new low cost jacket that is even more tailored to sailors needs, and this will be arriving in stores in September (although i'm confident this purchase will still be going strong!)

Es kommt wirklich kein bisschen Wind oder Regen durch diese Jacke. Klar sie hält nicht wirklich warm aber gegen solches Wetter ist es bestens.
Die Jacke ist wirklich absolut Wasserdicht!
Die Jacke ist sehr bequem und sehr leicht. Das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis ist top. Kann sie nur weiterempfehlen.
Super Jacke für das Geld
Gerade ein Wasserschutz sollte doch auch den Kopf schützen, aber es fehlt der Kordelzug für die Kapuze.Der geringste Windhauch läßt sie verrutschen, was bei schlechtem Wetter nur nervig ist.Außerdem sind die Seitentaschen nicht verschließbar, ein klarer Nachteil.Zum Segeln werde ich sie definitiv nicht mehr nutzen können . Aus den Gründen würde ich mir die Jacke nicht mehr wieder kaufen.

Breathability
RET <12: very breathable.To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance, or RET, (test based on the ISO 11092 standard). It is its ability to allow the water vapor produced by the body during exercise to escape.

How to reactivate the jacket's water-repellency step 1: before washing
Close all zippers and flaps and remove any parts of the garment that cannot be washed. Also remember to loosen the straps and elastic parts and empty the pockets. Then turn the garment inside out to wash it.
How to reactivate the jacket's water-repellency step 2: washing
You can wash your jacket on a synthetic cycle at 86°F or 104°F with your usual detergent. Do not use fabric softener, which could damage the existing performance of the garment, or bleach. Also take care not to bend your jacket too much when you place it in the washing machine and do not overload your machine. Very important: select a thorough rinse or double rinse to completely remove all detergent residue.
How to reactivate the jacket's water-repellency step 3: drying
Drying is a crucial phase in reactivating the water-repellent treatment.We recommend that you lay your jacket flat on a clothes rack and leave it out to dry in the open. Caution: never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.Then place it in the tumble dryer on a short synthetics cycle, i.e. 10 to 15 minutes, before turning it back the right way around. Caution: do not overdry the garment.
How to reactivate the jacket's water-repellency
If, despite this procedure of washing and thorough rinsing followed by gentle drying in a tumble dryer, the drops of water no longer run off the surface of your jacket, we recommend that you ”re-waterproof” it using a waterproofing spray.
Product testing
Novadry re-creates storm conditions in its weather simulator. Under these conditions, after 4 hours under a torrential rain shower of 100 L/hr/sqm, our garment still kept the user dry. To give you an idea of what this means, the world record for 4.5 hours of precipitation was 174 L/hr/sqm in the USA, unmatched since 1942 (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USDC), and when it rains in Paris, the average rainfall is 2 L/hr/sqm (www.Paris.fr).
Storage instructions
Store in a dry place, but do not leave NOVADRY® garments on a heat source such as a radiator, as this may damage the breathable membrane or coating.
