SCD500 Regulator Pack Balanced Piston with DIN 300 Octopus Pressure Gauge

Penn SUBEA REGULATOR REVIEW The SUBEA SCD500 DIN scuba regulator is Decathlon’s latest offering from their scuba diving equipment line. The SCD500 set comes with a DIN first stage, primary and alternate second stages, and submersible pressure gauge. Although the first stage is DIN, there is an available international yoke adaptor that can be purchased from Decathlon. You will also need to install a low-pressure hose to be attached to the bcd power inflator. A handsome regulator bag also comes with the set to protect the SCD500 from bumps and scratches when you store them. As stated in the SCD500 owner’s manual, it is specifically designed for recreational diving purposes. The first stage is a balanced piston regulator and can take tank pressures from 232Bar (Yoke) to 300Bar (DIN). It has 4 low-pressure and 2 high-pressure hose ports. A DIN screw-on dust cap also comes with the package for protecting the first stage when not in use. The SUBEA pressure gauge is in metric units and comes with a rubber housing. Both the primary and alternate second stages are standard regulators with internal venturi mechanism to provide maximum ease of breathing. The hoses for the SPG and the two regulators comes in standard lengths and in different colors for easier identification (dark grey for primary, yellow for alternate, and black for SPG). Test dive. I was impressed with the packaging of the SCD500 that was sent for testing. The Decathlon eco-bag is a good idea to avoid plastic use, and the regulator bag is really very handsomely done in black color. I had to reconfigure the placements of the hoses before I can use the set as the second stages were located on both sides and the pressure gauge was on the right. I also had to attach a low-pressure inflator mmhose to complete the set-up. The DIN screw grip is easy to use when attaching it to the tank and sits perfectly stable with the tank valve. The hose lengths are also comfortably sized for recreational diving, they do not dangle around when properly attached with a clip to my bcd. During my test dive I incidentally had some guests for discover scuba diving lessons. During the swimming pool dives I found out that the second stages would free flow when they are dipped mouthpiece-down in the the water, so I made sure to take note of that and be more cautious to save my air. Both the primary and alternate regulators delivered maximum ease of breathing in the swimming pool. The SPG can easily be seen with its white and orange colored face. For the open water test dive I initially brought the SCD500 down to a maximum of 12 meters. The first stage performed very well, with no visible bubbles coming from the valve and the hose ports. Recently I got bought a set after reading the specifications. It's great value for money given the first stage is a swirl turret. I just did 2 dives with it at Singapore southern islands and was surprise at how easier the air flow was underwater; the dive depth was 19m. However the primary regulator during pre-dive check had free flow when I depress the purge button, but I think it's fine. You will have the same problem with venturi base regulators, this proves that it will breath easy. I have 1 concern which Decathlon has addressed, which is the bi-yearly service of the regulators. Decathlon has assured me that their service center in Bedok will handle it, which would be good if I don't have to bring it to 3rd party service center. I'm getting a 2nd set for my daughter, but will have to wait until the lockdown for COVID-19 is over. Decathlon pls reserve a set for me...in case there was a mad rush for the item :) To the Subea Team...pls keep up the good work, and stay save during the lockdown.

I have 2 regulators SCD500. They work fine but Decathlon do not service them in Thailand. As this product need regular servicing, it is a problem if you are not able to do it yourself.
