I've been using the regular pvc skipping rope for quite a while now and this is a good way to increase workout. Also, I know it's only for indoors, but I use it on smooth pavement to prevent damage on the wire.

After almost a year of use, one of the bearings in one hand has stopped rotating freely, it rotates very slowly as if seized, as if the bearing had slipped out of the rail. The rope no longer works.
