Choosing your dobok
Taekwondo is a so-called ”percussive” combat sport. Unlike judo, you do not grab your opponent's uniform (except in self-defense).That's why a dobok needs to be light with a loose fit for ease. A child who is new to taekwondo should choose a twill fabric dobok (6.7 oz/sqm) that is both flexible and lightweight.
Choosing the right size for your child
The size of your child will determine the size of your dobok (from 3'7” to 4'11”).In line with tradition, the doboks are made from cotton and have a natural tendency to shrink a few centimeters during the first 3 washes.That's why we suggest choosing a dobok that is 2” to 4” larger than your child's height. For example, if your child is 4'4” tall, choose a dobok in size 55”.
Care advice
Wash your uniform in cold water the first time, then at 86°F thereafter. Do not tumble dry.
