Disappointing

TL;DR - don't purchase if looking for winter gloves below zero degrees Celcius. Purchased for winter cycling in Toronto. I'd normally get the Small size but got the Medium as I read a couple of reviews that it'd be best to get the next size up and they're still slightly tight. Wore them yesterday for the first time in -3 degree Celcius (-6 windchill) and they were definitely not warm enough. Despite perspiration, taking them off were a bit of a hassle as the interior layer was coming out as well. Gave them a second try this morning in similar temperatures but with a thinner glove underneath but to no avail. My fingers were still quite cold on a short 20-minute ride. I will say that they seem to be built quite well which is why I've given them two starts instead of just one. Purchased online for a total of $45.50CDN with shipping thinking they'd be a good cheap alternative instead of paying $100+ but to no avail. To return would be an additional $8 shipping and would have to be in original condition with tags. So that's frustrating considering it wasn't what I thought I was paying for. Lesson learned.

Warm and Snug

These gloves a bit of a challenge to get on if you are seeking a nice snug fit. Ridden numerous rides while the temperature hovered between 0-4 Celsius and they kept my hands protected from the wind while keeping my hands warm. Unfortunately, the liner doesn’t seem to be sewn in place, I am assuming so they retain some water & wind proofing features, however with a little dampness from perspiration it makes it a real headache to get the gloves off without pulling the liner way out of place. When you put them on for your next ride there is a lot of adjusting to get the liner seated back into a comfortable position.

Hello Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our 500 Winter Cycling Gloves. This feedback is both useful, and informative, and will be shared with our cycling team, so that they can speak to real life experience with this specific product.

Good quality gloves do the job

Decent gloves kept hands warm and dry, good padding and grip.

gloves

Good warmth but not sure how effectve these would be in prolonged heavy rain. Palms could benefit by adding some grip when holding exposed area on handlebar

Excellent performance for the money

Warm and well made. These were used down to -3 degrees C. I get cold hands normally, but these were ok. The quality at this price is excellent. Not tested in wet weather, but comfortable in rides at zero degrees for up to 3 hours. Sizing seems accurate as well.

No bad

Bought these as a gift for fellow cyclist Decent enough gloves however in really cold windy or wet days my hands do get cold, maybe it’s just me as my friend has the same gloves and doesn’t feel the cold

Cool weather gloves

They are thermal but not very warm, certainly not for cold below 5degC. I lost my previous pair, so replaced it, but the pull string on one glove came off on the second use.

Triban RR500 gloves

Pretty disappointing. Didnt keep my hands warm on a 0 degrees ride. Maybe I was being too optimistic. An older cheaper pair are better than these.

Very good gloves

I've tried a lot of gloves over the past 5 years. I have cold hands. Most do not deliver irrespective of cost or brand. These gloves are very cheap (compared to the competition). For me they are excellent, good fit, super comfortable and they keep my fingers warm (I have used then down to 2C). The padding on the palms is at first glance superficial but I have not had any numbness when riding my bike. The cuffs are particularly good as they fit snugly and the extra tab helps with putting them on (and hanging them up to dry). I have ridden them in heavy rain too and they worked really well keeping my hands warm even if they are not fully waterproof. I am going to buy another pair. I have large hands and bought XL.

Comfortable

Very good

Additional Product Information

Composition

Lining: 100.0% Polyethylene Terephtalate ; Palm: 100.0% Polyethylene Terephtalate ; Coating: 100.0% Polyurethane ; Main fabric: outer layer

Product warmth

A product's ability to protect from the cold. It depends on the material's thermal resistance and how much air can pass through it. The higher its thermal resistance, the more the product retains the heat produced by the body while cycling. If your ride is very intense, the perspiration on your hands can lead to a feeling of cold. We therefore recommend exercising at a moderate intensity in cold weather.

Water-repellent component

Waterproofing is a fabric's capacity to prevent the penetration of rain water. A fabric's water-repellency is its ability to make water bead and/or run along its surface. The garment soaks up little or no moisture, dries more quickly, and doesn't become heavier. Water-repellency can also make it more difficult for its outer surface to become dirty.Water-repellency is obtained by applying a treatment to the fabric's external surface. This product is not waterproof!

Care tips

Machine wash at 86°F. Synthetics cycle. Use a minimal amount of laundry detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Hang to dry in a warm, ventilated place. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry-clean. Do not bleach. Do not place on a heater to dry.
