After 5 months of use, I think this bike is ideal for those who want to start on the road. I use it daily to go to work and it is perfect for that use. I used to have a mountain bike, which honestly was of no use to me for riding in the city, and the change to the road was excellent. This bike has basic components, but that doesn't make them bad, in fact they are quite functional. The changes after some adjustments were quite pleasant to me, something that anyone could do after watching a good tutorial on YouTube. Although it is not ideal that the gear shifter is on the tube and not on the handle, out of reach, the truth is that I got used to using it on the first pedal stroke. On the other hand, since it is a low-end bike, leaving it securely tied with a lock anywhere gives priceless peace of mind. The truth is that I have nothing to criticize, perhaps the brakes don't leave me with the best feeling, it could be a matter of taste; In one of those with a good fit, they look the way I like them. I have the bike with a rear rack and one of those bags that go on the rack (not a saddlebag) and the truth is that for daily use when going to work you don't need more.
I like the bike it has great speed - excellent handling - i ride about 40 Kilometres a day 280 a week on average. I have used this bike a lot. Initially right away the bike began to have issues this could have been a faulty tune-up at the Markham location. The person in the bike area took it to the back and emerged 10 mins later, i felt that it was done in a rush. Immediately there was a light clicking sound coming from the cassette on my first ride. and it got worse and worse until eventually by the 5-7 ride that the lockring eventually became undone. I had to purchase a lockring tool to resecure it but by that point the cassette was COOKED. Just recently the BTWIN Pedals cracked in half as well - I switched the BTWN Pedals to SPD-Shimano Road Bike Pedals and I replaced the Cassette with a Shimano Hyperglide Cassette and it was NIGHT and DAY. No more clicking and great shifting. Road Bike Pedals paired with Road Bike Shoes are great for this bike.
Tyre tubing was in the wrong size leading to tyre puncture after 3 days of riding.
I bought this model in May 2022, in August I was already having problems when changing gears. I took it to the shop and they couldn't find the problem. So they gave me another one, same model. Tune-up done in May 2023, 1 month later I needed to change the brakes and 2 months later the rear tire. The price is not expensive, but be prepared to change parts every season, which increases the cost in the long term.
At $300, the Triban RC100 is a bargain. It has a decent aluminum frame, and endurance frame geometry that is quite comfortable. The bike is also fairly fast given its price point and weight (a little over 23 lbs). The components such as the gear set, pedals and caliper brakes are adequate. The 7 speed, 1X drive train might be limiting on very sharp inclines- but for flats and moderate/easy hills should be fine. The overall component quality is not high and component durability and longevity is an open question. If you are doing self assembly- be careful and pay particular attention to getting the quick release and handle bars tightened and in the right position. For my shipment, the quick release parts were scattered in the shipment box and I actually failed to add the needed nut/spacer on the quick release lever side (which I eventually figured out). The quick release also came without springs. The documentation that came with the bike is weak- but there are on-line videos from Tribal and others that help with assembly. A bike like this is a lot faster than a typical hybrid bike and comparable in speed (ignoring some gearing limitations) to an entry level road/endurance bike costing hundreds more. As a main bike, I recommend at least stepping up to the RC120. As a secondary bike, or a bike at the lowest price point possible that provides some speed and opportunity for endurance training- it has some appeal.
The bike is very functional and comfortable
Single derailleur is easy to control for flat road ride; robust tire size for occasional off-road ride.
The truth so far has been a very good bike and I would recommend it 100% for enthusiasts who are just starting out and don't want to spend exaggerated amounts; The small details found are in the button to change speeds, it's a bit hard, and well, it's the cheapest bike they have on display, the number of speeds is low, but I repeat, it's the cheapest. Conclusion, excellent for a start and much more excellent if it is for common use (not training).
Nice bike value for money
Thank you Decathlon Alabang for the assistance. Thank you Angelique and Jonas for the smooth transaction.
Excellent!
Great for fun rides and exercise. Not recommended for competition though.
Everything I wanted! A racing bike for every day!
Good value
My butt hurts after riding it for more than 1 hr lol Anyway its brakes are like not that effective and i reccomend to brake earlier and watch out for vehicles/pedestrians. Moreover. It sucks at turning tight corners but overall its ez to ride and great for beginners.
