X500, 82.7"-86.6" 2P Adjustable Split Carbon Kayak Paddle

I have two of these paddle and I have to say , what an absolute fantastic paddle it is for the money. It’s light , durable and easy to use. I couldn’t be more happy for €90 where would you get anything better. I take these out especially when I’m with my children cave exploring and they can take some abuse on the rocks and never an issue. Also it’s a fantastic touring paddle. I highly recommend. 20 years of paddling.

These are excellent for most paddling. I would not recommend them for whitewater or racing but yes for everything in between. They are light and easily adjustable. Perfect for traveling and long paddles. Mine have lasted a while but I must confess that due to their lightness I feel a bit weary when they hit stone even if so far they still look like new

I am Using it on a inflatable kayak, Its light and appears to be strong enough for the task.

It should be advertised clearly that this paddle is not for SEA KAYAKING

I have about this paddle on a Friday and tried it next day on the river in stormy weather. It feels nice and light, easy to handle, but the joint in the middle isn't holding a set length and angle. Next week I took the paddle to the sea and the left blade just snapped when I was trying to flip myselfback from being capsized. Luckily the land wasn't too far and I managed to swim out and save my kayak too. It is seriously dangerous to life not being able to self rescue because of poor material choice.

Having dodgy tendons in both of my wrists, I was struggling to paddle for very long without my wrists becoming very painful. I decided that I needed a lightweight adjustable paddle. So decided to get one of these. It’s awesome. I love it! I can now keep happily paddling away without my wrists becoming really painful. Makes such a difference. Very happy with mine.

I can’t believe Decathlon are still selling this paddle. I bought it with the really excellent X500 kayak. (I have been kayaking over 50 years.) The blade simply snapped with the lightest of pressure on a sandy bottom. There is s serious failure with the strength of these blades and I believe it could be a hazard to a lone paddler. This is an awful shame as the carbon shaft is really great and the coupling mechanism simple and strong. I loved these paddles but alas the blades are truly rubbish. I am amazed that Decathlon, having put such great work into the research and development, could let this design fault pass. It’s very disappointing. I’m a big fan of all their kit. Please don’t do what I did and buy the paddle thinking, ‘these feel great - fingers crossed those blades will hold up.” Having said all this, I commend Decathlon for their no quibble refund. COME ON DECATHLON, You’re better than this.

Was looking forward to an awesome day kayaking on a loch , 2 small strokes and a power stroke later and I only had half a blade on the right hand side. Not happy , ruined weekend and thank god I was still close to shore.
