What is the flex?
To provide an indication of boot rigidity, brands assign a flex rating to every boot. This figure determines the rigidity of the whole boot: the higher its value, the stiffer the shell. It is generally considered that a flex of 70 is for average to intermediate level skiers. A flex from 70 to 90 is for intermediate skiers. Beyond this value, the products are aimed at advanced skiers. Well-built skiers can go up 1 level.
How do you try on ski boots
Once your foot is in the boot, fasten the buckles to the midpoint. Can you go further? This means the volume of the boot isn't right for you. Once you've fastened your boots, you need to flex 3 times while pushing your calves forward (put your hands on your knees), which will push your heel back into the boot. Stand up: your foot should touch the end of the shell. When you flex, your foot should move backward so you can no longer feel the end.
How to easily put on your ski boots?
Pull the tongue forward and toward the outside of the feet: this allows you to fully open up the shell and facilitates foot entry.
How to change my back country soles for alpine soles?
Duration: 15 minutes 1/ Unscrew the heel pad insert screw. 2 /Unscrew the 3 screws on the heel pad and remove it by pulling it back. Warning, do not lose the little black spacer. 3/ Remember to screw the heel pad insert in order not to lose it. 4/ Fit the Alpine heel pad and screw it on. 5/ Unscrew the 4 screws on the front toe piece. 6/Remove the toe piece by pushing it forward. Warning, do not lose the little black spacer. 7/ Fit the Alpine tor piece and screw it on.
How to make a ski boot more comfortable
There are many ways of optimizing foot comfort in a ski boot. A ski boot must be tight-fitting. To improve the support, you can get soles that are tailored to the shape of your foot arch, volume reducers and heel boosters.
How to avoid having cold feet
Although it is often forgotten, drying the liner is the most effective way to avoid having cold feet. Even by 14°F, the foot sweats and the liner cannot dry by itself in a plastic shell, even over several days. Ideally, you should remove it each day. There is the option to use boot dryers that are more convenient because there is no need to remove the liner, you just plug them in!
