Cuff does not allow snow to penetrate, keeping you warm and dry in snowfall or should you fall in the snow.
Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. Fabric is made water-repellent by applying a treatment to its outer part. This treatment needs to be renewed during the garment’s lifetime (every 3 washes). All Wed’ze jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
The coating is a paint applied to the inside of the fabric making it waterproof while being breathable. Often cheaper than a membrane and necessitates lining for protection. The membrane is a type of very fine film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is softer, lighter, more resistant and often more breathable than a coating.
To determine whether a component is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower a fabric's resistance, the more the water vapor generated by the body during sports can escape through the fabric, and the higher its breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric/9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric/12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric/RET > 20 = not very or not at all breathable.
We measure a fabric's resistance to a water column, in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more watertight the fabric. A component with a waterproofing resistance of 2000 mm resists the pressure of 2000 mm of water
The garment waterproofing is linked to the component, the waterproofness of seams and the assembly design. We also conduct shower tests on our clothing
We use padding for insulation to help keep you warm. This polyester-based synthetic material traps air, the quantity of which will depend on the size of the fibers. Padding can be standard, high-tech or siliconized, each with different properties: warmth, lightness, flexibility, etc.
In addition to the breathability of fabrics used, we use technical solutions (zippers, vents, netting, etc.) that improve the overall ventilation of jackets and pants designed for Freeriding and All-Mountain skiing. These ventilation systems allow us to both regulate the temperature inside the clothing and facilitate the wicking of perspiration generated by the body during effort.
To keep warm and dry, use the 3-breathable-layers rule: 1 ski base layer and 1 under-jacket for keeping warm, 1 ski jacket to protect you from bad weather.
The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press studs at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and air from entering during practice and especially in the case of a fall.
You no longer need to get your ski pass out because your sleeve has a ski pass pocket to allow you to access the cable cars quickly.
The environmental impact of a product is calculated across the entire lifecycle of the product using different indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is provided to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, pants, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
100% of our Freeride and All Mountain pants and jackets are equipped with the RECCO system. With the RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is equipped with RECCO® reflectors and is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. The RECCO technology has a complementary function, increasing the chances of being found in time.
Our Wed'ze products are tested in the real conditions of use for which they are designed—the snow, cold, and all the conditions you might encounter when skiing and snowboarding. Our design teams ensure the product's target use corresponds perfectly to its real world use.
Store on a hanger and do not fold, as this can damage the fabric coating. Make sure that the garment is completely dry before storing in a dry and well-ventilated place.
