Women's Hiking Boots TREK 500 Matryx® FORCLAZ

Because the men's model was out of stock, I tried the women's hiking boots, and they fit me perfectly. I climbed nearly 10 suburban mountains. They have good coverage and are waterproof. I waded through streams and didn't get my feet wet at all. The soles have good grip and anti-slip properties. They are very comfortable to wear. Comfortable, the soles are elastic and have excellent load-carrying properties!

unusable shoes broken lace loops

After the satisfaction of having finally found comfortable shoes for day trips to the mountains, the charm is broken by the inconvenience of seeing all the lace loops on both shoes break, one by one, making them unusable. It's a shame because they are cozy shoes, waterproof in the morning dew and snow. It would be beneficial to replace the fabric lace loops with a more robust material. In the end, I'm going to have to replace them less than a year after purchasing them, which ends up being a budget!

Interior wear on the heel

Hello Purchase at the beginning of 2023 of a second pair of WATERPROOF LEATHER TREKKING SHOES - VIBRAM - MT900 MATRYX. Comfortable shoes (like slippers) but having the same problem with the inner heel. Fabrics that deteriorate and cause big blisters and which required me to have spare shoes during the hike; This forces me to buy other hiking shoes to be satisfied. Waiting for an exchange or a gesture from you to purchase another pair of shoes. Sincerely .

Watch out for sensitive ankles!

On the lower part of the shoe, nothing to say: waterproof, resistant, holds well... On the ankle part it is spoilt, too bad: I have a thin ankle with protruding malleolus. Major pains started on the 2nd day of a trek, without warning signs, and despite prior trials of shorter hiking shoes. The edge of the shoe rubs against my bones, above the external malleolus, it is very painful. Impossible to walk again with (despite good socks, several tightening attempts, protective bandages, etc.). Is it a question of the height of the upper, which falls right on the tendons as soon as the foot is off-axis? On a big descent, my Achilles heel bumped into the rigid edges of the mesh cutout, which was also very unpleasant.

Disappointed with the duration of the product

It's been a year and a half since I bought these hiking shoes, so far I've been delighted with them for the very occasional uses I've had. However lately I've been using them more and more and one of the lace eyelets it's sawed off on my right shoe and then shortly after exactly the same on the second foot, and I feel like others are also weakened from use and will soon give way. Given the price devoted to these shoes, I am very disappointed with their lifespan...

Nasty blisters on the heel

I bought these shoes about 2 years ago and have done a few hikes in them since then. First of all, they were really good and offered very good grip and adhesion. Unfortunately, in the last six months, there have been more and more problems, after about 5km I have severe and then also open blisters on both heels. Always wear the same socks and the hikes are also identical. So I assume there is a material weakness in the heel area, which shouldn't actually occur with a high-priced hiking shoe.

Really very very…

Really very happy with these shoes. Lightness, good grip and very good waterproofing.

How waterproof are these boots?

This boot has been validated on the waterproofing test at 50,000 repeatable flexes, i.e. 12.5 miles - 8 hours of walking, in water up to the mid-upper, which today guarantees the best level of waterproofing for your boots.--> Our assessment indicates a LEVEL OF 4/5 enabling 8 hour waterproofing in hiking under the rain. The details of tests carried out to assess the waterproofing of our boots is below, in the characteristics section.

Can crampons be used with these backpacking boots?

This model of Backpacking boots enables the occasional use of STRAP-ON CRAMPONS ONLY. It is sufficiently rigid for the occasional use of strap-on crampons while guaranteeing very good comfort when walkinghttps://www.decathlon.fr/p/crampons-d-alpinisme-caiman-2-lanieres/_/R-p-9186?mc=8212786&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtrnuBRDXARIsABiN-7ADHOa1Ivqjeba-6L4HjHF88mWLsL5rlmpz0zrXB9YfKALqI0lTYuIaArxaEALw_wcB

Making waterproofing last longer

The waterproofing of boots is often compromised because water gets in at the collar of the boot. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent not only water from getting inside through the top, but also pebbles, sand, etc. It is advisable to use a waterproof spray several times a year. This restores the original water-repellent properties and prevents staining.

Care advice

1 / Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove any dirt or mud.2/ Then leave to air-dry, away from any heat source.3/ Finish by using a re-waterproofing spray to keep optimal water-repellency of the upper and extend the life of the boot. Link below for the applicator https://www.decathlon.fr/p/applicateur-re-activateur-de-deperlance-pour-chaussures/_/R-p-307629?mc=8551

Which size should i choose?

WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?For hiking, try taking one boot size up from your usual to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: keep your toenails short and, before descending, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding forward inside the shoe.

5 levels of waterproofing

During the waterproofing test, we test 5 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (approximately 2.5 miles, 30 minutes of walking) 10,000 flexes (approximately 6 miles, 3 hours of walking) 30,000 (approximately 9 miles, 6 hours of walking) 50,000 flexes (approximately 12.5 miles, 8 hours of walking)100,000 flexes (approximately >12.5 miles, 24 hours of walking)

Waterproofing test

Our shoes are laboratory tested according to 2 successive tests Test 1 / We test the efficiency of the membrane only when it is pressured and placed in water, we check the absence of water at the surface, like when you test a ”punctured inner tube”.Test 2 / Thanks to mechanical arms that simulate walking, the assembled shoes are half immersed in water and they complete thousands of flexes to check that the inside of the shoe remains dry and it is therefore waterproof.

Buying tips / how do you try your boots on?

How to choose your shoes: 1. Try both boots on, standing up, wearing the socks you use for hiking. 2. Tighten the laces correctly3. Check the following 2 areas of comfort: the heel and the front of the foot when going downhill. 4. Get up to walk with the shoes on.5. Try on several sizes and several models. 6. Wear your boots for increasingly long periods to wear them in

Product testing

All our boots are tested for their wearing comfort and use in the field by the target users under the same conditions as they would experience in real-life use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who aren't affiliated with FORCLAZ, to test, improve and validate our products.
