Which filling should i choose to be sure my jacket keeps me warm?

Down and feathers are known to be good insulators, and they also offer an excellent weight/heat/compression ratio. But the degree of warmth will depend on the down/feather weight and the fill power of the jacket. Combined, they keep you warm and protect you from the cold. (50% down and 50% feather filling on the body, 3.5 oz/sqm recycled padding on the bottom of the jacket and arms, 2.1 oz/sqm on the collar).

Apart from the filling, which components will help keep me warm?

In addition to its filling, your jacket's waterproof zippers, snow skirt, collar and adjustable hood and cuffs offer better protection against the cold for a warmer feeling.

What is a membrane and what's it for?

The membrane is a very fine component applied to the inner surface of the outer jacket fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away the perspiration produced by the body. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry.

How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?

We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water expressed in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a 8,000 mm waterproofing will resist the pressure exerted by 8,000 mm of water.

Which parts of the jacket protect me from bad weather?

The 500 jacket was rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and reduce wind chill so that you can cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To check that it is waterproof, this jacket was placed in a special shower reproducing the conditions a skier has to cope with. We approved this product's waterproofness by using it in different weather conditions for several days.

Why is my jacket water-repellent?

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This jacket is made from water-repellent materials that prolong its resistance to bad weather. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.

How can i reactivate my jacket's water-repellent properties?

Did you know that water-repellent properties can be reactivated? You can use a waterproof spray to do so (sold in our stores): spray the product evenly over the entire garment, then let it dry for 10-12 hours).

What is a "breathable" jacket?

It is a product that lets the moisture produced by your body during exercise escape. To see if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) in a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 500 jacket has an RET of 11. But it is thanks to the hi-tech Wed'ze solutions (zippers, ventilation, mesh) that condensation is limited inside the garment and breathability is optimized.

The 500 jacket is what type of fit?

Slim Fit. The jacket has straight sides that remain parallel without trying to hug the shape of your bust. The inner volume allows this jacket to be worn with a first and second hi-tech layer.

How should i dress to stay warm on the slopes?

To keep warm and dry, simply respect the 3-layer rule: Layer 1, or second skin, to keep dry. Layer 2, or insulating layer, to conserve heat. Layer 3, or protective layer, to protect against bad weather.

How can i prevent snow from getting in when i fall?

The (automatic) snow skirt and adjustable sleeve cuffs prevent snow and air from entering while skiing and especially in case of falling.

How do i wash my jacket?

* Wash the jacket inside-out * Machine wash at 86°F, Delicate cycle with little detergent and without fabric softener. * Put 2 clean, ideally white, tennis balls in the drum of the washing machine. * Perform a second or third rinse cycle to make sure that any washing product that remains from the previous wash has bee
