Fill power of the down/feather filling

This 85/15 padded gilet has a guaranteed minimum fill power of 660 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling*

The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-lightweight: feathers are lighter than synthetic fill while offering the same level of insulation. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible *Our feathers come from Chinese ducks raised for their meat – we collect their feathers after they have been slaughtered.

Care instructions for jackets filled with down and feathers

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow the instructions by clicking the link below: How to wash and dry your down jacket

In the event of rain

The material of this padded jacket is water-repellent. It makes drops of water run off the fabric so it takes longer for water to get inside the jacket, giving you time to find shelter. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.

Product Testing

All our down jackets are laboratory tested with 3 mph wind, worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, enabling you to make the choice that best fits your use.

Care Instructions

Caring for down jackets requires special attention. We recommend using specialist dry cleaning services for the care of your down jacket. Machine wash at 86°F; add 2 tennis balls to ventilate the down. Rinse twice. Tumble drying highly recommended: synthetic cycle with 3 tennis balls to restore the loft of the down; put the jacket through several cycles until the down has dried completely, otherwise it may clump, losing insulating power.
