Love it

Fits perfectly. Very light weight, warm, and not overly poofy. I'm an avid hiker but I probably won’t wear it hiking since I am set on my layering system. Instead I will just live in it when I’m not hiking, that’s how much I love it. I don’t usually buy down because I feel bad for the geese. It has a tag that says it is responsibly sourced. Im hoping that means a goose died of old age and they took his feathers lol!

Great lightweight vest!

Love this vest, can’t go wrong with the price. Saw one similar at LL Bean but it was 4 times the price! Highly recommend it!

Flattering - Tight on the Chest

So nicely lightweight and flattering. However, if you are not flat chested, your "regular size" (mine is medium) will be way too tight.

Brilliant Down Gilet

I bought one of these for my youngest daughter, just as I went to pay for it my other daughter handed me another for her. Speaks volumes for the item. Trendy and a good looking item.

A hug of a bodywarmer

I can roll this into my work bag pocket, whip it out the minute the weather turns and it's my best new friend

Sizing

Not true to size for the gilet will have to exchange for a larger size

Light weight and warm

This light-weight gilet is perfect for wearing under and outer layer to give extra warmth. It is wind proof and not at all bulky I find that it also packs away quite small if I get too warm when walking.

Very effective product!

I really suffer with the cold and in the colder months I constantly struggle to get warm. Wearing this gilet over a couple of layers I can instantly feel the heated trapped next to my body and I feel super toasty! The best thing about this product in the draw sting around the bottom. I usually find with gilets the cold air comes in from underneath but the drawstring stops this and with the high neck I really can't rate this product enough.

Great gilet

Great gilet, really comfy and lightweight.

Great!

Love this, so versatile, warm, flattering, HUGE pockets and easy to stuff in my bag /pack away. An essential!

Good lightweight gilet

Bought as an extra layer for my better half, who is delighted with it. Warm, but not cumbersome and fits well.

Brilliant

I used the size chart on here and ordered accordingly, I'm a 16)18 I ordered a 2xl fits perfect, nice length

Nice but too tight across the chest

This is a really nice gilet but unfortunately for me it is way too tight on the chest. I'm 5'6 with a 36C bust and am a UK size 10-12 and bought the medium. The large is too big everywhere else but fits on the chest. I've noticed a lot of Decathlon tops this year are really tight across the chest and I don't even have a particularly large chest. Decathlon please could you bear in mind some women have larger chests and smaller hips when designing clothes? A lot of women are slim with larger chests. Not every woman has a pear shape. Had to return.

Super-warm

Lovely garment, very good value.

What does the rds certification mean?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organization to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers are committed to sourcing down humanely, using plumage from waterfowl that have undergone no undue harm. To find out more: https://www.forclaz.co.uk/what-is-rds-certification

Inflating power of down/feather filling

For this down vest with its 85% down/15% feather filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 in³ or more (European standard). The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. So, down with a higher fill power (higher in³ number) will occupy more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation.

What are the advantages of a duck down and feather filling?

The durability and fill power properties of down give this jacket 3 qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation provided by the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra low weight: Down is lighter than synthetic fill while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible

In case of rain

The material of the quilted jacket is water-repellent. We nevertheless recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the quilted jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to the rain. We nevertheless recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the quilted jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to the rain.

How to wash your feather down jacket

In general, do not wash a down jacket too frequently. Here are a few tips: Close all the zippers on your down jacket and put it in the washing machine (synthetics cycle at 86°F). In order to preserve the fill power and warmth, you can even put 2 tennis balls in the machine Be careful to set a gentle spin cycle: A fast spin cycle may create balls of feathers that are difficult to break up.

How to dry your down jacket

When you take your down jacket out of the washing machine, it will seem as if the down has gone. A tumble dryer is the best way to restore the fill power of the feathers. Put your down jacket inside with 2 tennis balls. Run 2-3 drying cycles. If you don't have a tumble dryer, you can dry your down jacket on a drying rack. Regularly turn it over and pat it. How to reactivate the waterproofing properties

The water-repellent treatment becomes less effective with time, washing, and use. Here is how to restore the water-repellent properties of your padded jacket! You can also use the care product: fabric waterproofing liquid: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/fabric-waterproofing-liquid-250-ml/_/R-p-308192

How to repair your padded jacket if it has a tear

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when backpacking, and the good news is it can be repaired! You can either mend it or apply a heat-bonded patch so that the tear doesn't get any bigger and the feather/down escapes. Don't feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Our in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service for your padded jackets.

Product testing

All our vests are laboratory tested in 3 mph winds and worn as a 2nd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeve T-shirt). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use. Worn underneath the Trek 100 down jacket, it can provide 11°F extra warmth when compared to a down jacket worn without the vest. Choose the best suited to your activity.
