Quechua NH500, Hiking Boots, Women's

The design of this sole has been the subject of extensive research in our laboratories. It consists of a specific rubber formulation to optimize grip and traction. Because not everyone has the same requirements, we systematically seek the best compromise for walking on loose soil pathways (forest path type) and mineral tracks (coastal path type).

Our hiking boots are designed for use on natural trails. Indeed, we choose and test the components of the sole and upper of our boots to best adapt to hiking on soft trails (forest path made of earth) or minerals trails (rocky coastal footpaths). On-road use (bitumen) can accelerate the wear of your boots and cause you discomfort. They are not suitable for walking in the mountains.

Laboratory tests are conducted to test the following elements: torn eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.

For these boots, we chose components that are kinder to the environment: natural leather without chrome, upper (front of the boot, tongue and top of the boot) in 100% recycled polyester, lining of the tongue and collar in 100% recycled polyester, laces and lace holes in 100% recycled polyester, sock liner in 85% recycled polyurethane, 100% recycled polyester lining, 30% recycled rubber outsole.

We use a leather called nubuck. It has a fluffy, silky feel. The leather of this boot is taken from cows. We don't kill any animals to get this leather: we only use waste from the food industry.

After your hikes, we advise you to: - Leave to dry away from any heat source - When the leather is fully dry, scrub vigorously with a stiff brush to remove mud and dirt - Use a crepe or nubuck brush to remove any stains - For stubborn stains, clean with a brush and some lukewarm water - Leave to dry - Brush again with a stiff brush - Spray with a waterproofing spray: this adds luster to the leather and gives the color greater intensity.

Try on both boots while standing, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check 2 comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. There should be no pressure points when you try them on. Always walk around the store. Gradually wear in your shoes over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

Many things cause blisters when hiking: rubbing, a fold in your sock, moisture, a size too small or too big ... It is therefore important to choose the right size and a sock material adapted to your hiking boots.

You need to choose a sock size adapted to your foot to avoid any extra folds on the sock: either because the sock is too big and therefore there is too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small and is pulled toward the inside of the boot.

You need to manage humidity when out walking: we all perspire, it's inevitable. If your boot is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration: so you have to choose a light, breathable sock as well If your boot is waterproof, to protect you from the humidity of the rain, you will not make the same choice: you need to go for a sock that will absorb your perspiration and wick it away as much as possible from your foot.

Although this type of footwear offers some breathability, it is not sufficient to eliminate all the perspiration. You should therefore choose the NH500 low or mid socks: they contain cotton that absorbs moisture and they have a plush loop construction under the sock that keeps the moisture away from your foot. What's more, they are high enough to protect your ankle from the boot. This is an excellent combination for reducing blisters.
