How can I be sure my jacket will give me proper protection in bad weather?
The Slide 500 jacket was rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and to feel the wind less, to help you cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To check that it is waterproof, this jacket was placed in a special shower reproducing the conditions a skier has to cope with. We approved this product's waterproofness by skiing in different weather conditions for several days.
What is the point of the water repellent property of my jacket?
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. The Slide 500 jacket is made from water resistant materials to prolong its resistance rating in bad weather. It's an additional technical solution to keep you dry for as long as possible throughout the day. You will need to regularly renew this treatment, using products sold in our stores, to maintain this protection.
"Coated" jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. Fabric is made water repellent by applying a surface treatment. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (every 2 or 3 washes). We sell products for this purpose in our stores. All Wed'ze waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we have enhanced the waterproofing of the Slide 500 jacket by taping the seams. These are adhesive waterproof strips stuck behind the seams making the garment waterproof. These taped seams are located on the areas most exposed to snow, such as the shoulders and chest.
What is a membrane and what's it for?
The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away the perspiration generated by the body. The membrane is a key component for staying warm and dry.
How will my ski jacket keep me warm?
We use padding for insulation to help keep you warm. This polyester-based synthetic material traps air, the quantity of which will depend on the size of the fibers. Padding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconized, each with different properties: warmth, lightness, flexibility, etc.
What is a "breathable" jacket?
It is a product that lets the water vapor produced by the body during exercise escape, keeping you dry. To see if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat, called Ret, in a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. Wed'ze uses hi-tech materials and solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh) that reduce condensation inside the garment. Slide 500 component RET: less than 12.
How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
To keep warm and dry, use the 3-breathable-layers rule: 1 ski undergarment and 1 under-jacket to retain warmth, 1 ski jacket to protect you from bad weather.
How can I prevent snow from getting in when I fall?
The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press snaps at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and cold air from entering when skiing, especially in the case of a spill.
Where can I put my ski pass when taking the ski lifts?
You no longer need to get your ski pass out because your sleeve has a ski pass pocket to allow you to access the cable cars quickly.
Our Wed'ze products are tested in the real conditions of use for which they are designed—the snow, cold, and all the conditions you might encounter when skiing and snowboarding. Our design teams ensure the product's target use corresponds perfectly to its real world use.
