Great bit of design

Bought one of these recently for the Mrs, the super-stretch (patterned) panels mean that its an excellent fitting summer suit - Decathlon seem to have grasped the fact that not all lady wetsuit wearers are in fact a willowy size 10, some actually have breasticles. Well done Decathlon, take note tier1 wetsuit manufacturers! She's a 5ft2 size 14, and size large was a perfect fit.

Love this shorty wetsuit. Really comfortable to wear paddle boarding when it’s a little warmer. Great value for money.

Very small

Although this wetsuit looks and feels good, the sizing is so small. I am a uk size 14/16 and ordered the XL. the XL size is more like a uk size 12, unfortunately I will have to return it.

Good Summer Suit

I gave up looking for a suitable thinks full wetsuit as I think I just left it too late in the season to find something suitable for my awks body shape (14-16, curvy and 5ft 2). I opted for a shorty and it arrived really quickly, well packaged and fit like a dream. I felt confident in it and was happy to get in to seawater (British Summer temperatures) and would recommend for sure! I coupled it with some booties and gloves and as a collective, I didn’t feel cold or like I was missing the full wetsuit experience.

Lovely wetsuit if only it were longer on the legs

It's a lovely wetsuit but it's just too short on the legs. I'm 5ft 1" and I found the top to be perfect but it just showed far too much leg to be comfortable. For reference it stopped just a few inches below the crotch. Unfortunately I had to return it and I'm now back to the drawing board. My partner has the men's equivalent which fits perfectly and looks very flattering with the cut just above the knees.

The sizing is not accurate !

The sizing is not accurate. I took the advice of one of the reviews & ordered a larger size…. Still too small ! Replacing a Sports Direct M, the Decathlon L was too small.

Shortie wetsuit

Fab starter suit for SUP , great product and great price

poor sizing

We tried most of the sizes but none of them seemed to fit a normal sized person

Ladies summer wetsuit.

Brought for my daughter. As other wetsuits I've had from decathlon it's good quality & if treated correctly will last a fair amount of time. I would recommend the wetsuits from Decathlon to anyone. Good price & good quality product.

Not what expected

I used size chart and it came up with xl. I am size14 and could have done with L. Shoulder really tight and uncomfortable to swim in, hips far too big and lose. This is a problem with all the items l ever bought from Decathlon. The sizing is inconsistent an all over the place. Some items are far too small and some far too big. Rather disappointing.

Very small.

I bought this to put away as a Xmas present for my wife as she is coming kayaking with me next year & just got it as a small extra present, she is only 5’2 & small built so I ordered a medium but when I opened it up I thought I had ordered a medium child’s size by mistake as it looks tiny!! It’s a nice suit though & great value so hopefully it will stretch to her size.

looks good but poor performance

velcro at neck keeps attaching to upper fabric causing pulls, the top part is not neoprene just fabric so does not offer the warmth you would expect

So Small!

measured myself accurately to the mm and ordered the size it said....can't even zip it up! Go up a size.

You are an intermediate surfer

You regularly go surfing. During your sessions, you paddle out to the lineup, duck dive under the breaking waves if you are on a shortboard, or turtle roll if you are on a longboard, then surf waves of less than 40". You often fall and are used to being shaken about underwater. Your swimsuit must meet the requirements of your practice and stay in place for each of your movements. We have designed a range for you that is suited to your regular practice and your body shape.

How to choose the right wetsuit? (part 1)

The first selection criterion when choosing a surfing wetsuit is the water temperature. Water temperature varies according to the location and the time of the year. Systematically make sure that the water temperature at your spot corresponds to the recommended temperature range: Warm water above 68°F. Temperate water between 62 and 72°F. Cold water between 53 and 62°F. Very cold water between 45 and 54°F. Visit the site seatemperature.org to find out the temperature of your spot.

How to choose the right wetsuit? (part 2)

The 2nd criterion to take into account is the length of your sessions. If your sessions last less than an hour, the 100 models will be suitable. For up to 2 hours, opt for the 500 models and for up to 3 hours, the 900 models. Compared to the 100 models, the 500 models will be warmer (and more watertight) and more efficient at reducing fatigue (more freedom of movement) and irritation. The same is true for the 900 models compared with the 500 models. NB: the 900 models are easier to put on.

Choose the right size

To make the most of the features of your wetsuit, it is necessary to choose the correct size. A surfing wetsuit should be a very tight fit and there should be no visible folds. When dry, it is perfectly normal to feel like it is too tight, this discomfort disappears as soon as the wetsuit gets wet. If you choose a wetsuit that is too big, folds will appear, you will experience irritation and thermal insulation will be reduced (letting in water). Try it on before you buy it!

Materials

This OLAIAN 500 shorty is made with neoprene to ensure even better thermal insulation. The neoprene is lined with polyester fabric for added resistance to wear. Neoprene thickness: 2 mm. Neoprene is a closed-cell polychloroprene elastomeric foam with trapped nitrogen bubbles that have insulating properties. We test and guarantee the thermal quality of our neoprene materials.

Fastening

Our zippers and fastenings are laboratory-tested in order to ensure an optimal lifespan and good resistance to salt water. We have put the zipper at the back of the wetsuit for more comfort during surf sports (when lying down to paddle).

Stay warm for longer thanks to our thermal accessories! each temperature range has its own outfit...

When we are in the water, we lose more than half of our body heat through our extremities (feet, hands, head). Consequently, here are the recommended accessories: - in warm water and temperate water (>63°F) => neoprene low booties. - in cold water (54 - 63°F): High booties (boots) and gloves. - in very cold water (44 - 54°F): High booties (boots), gloves, hood and hooded top... Olaian, decathlon's surf brand

Based in Hendaye, in Southwest France, OLAIAN is Decathlon's new surfing and bodyboarding brand. In our offices at the water's edge, we can design a swimsuit or wetsuit and then on the same day test it directly in the sea to check it stays in place in the waves.
