Questions & Answers

Question:

Please provide instructions on mounting brackets on pole tips. I bought a pair of the poles but brackets were not mounted on the pole tips.

Answer:

Please specify the question for us to help you better. The baskets are attached to our poles by screwing/snapping them.

Question:

Are these poles shock absobing?

Answer:

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs. To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Really versatile

This is a great trekking pole, very versatile and adjustable, packs down well. Grip options for different terrain are well thought out

Excellent.

I am a regular hill walker and due to my age, now require the use of walking poles at all times. I get through a pair roughly every 12 to 18 months. These new poles are excellent and would recommend. They are light, comfortable and very premium for the price compared to other branded poles. I particularly like how quickly they reduce in size without lots of clips or screw fasteners.

Simple to use, sturdy, lightweight and reliable

Ideal. I had to buy pole caps for these, as they don't come with caps on the ends, but it was simple enough with the code given and the description of the caps that are compatible.

Good and stable, but slip over time

These were great for my 160km hike. However every 2 hours or so I would notice that they had slipped around 10cm. I tried tightening the bolt, but it still happened. Apart from that they were comfortable and stable.

Great buy

Nice shorts, good fit will be great for hiking

Loud and clicky

Following a 7 day backpacking trip in the wilderness of Scotland I found that my main issue with these trekking poles is that they're noisy. When you use them, they make a clicking sound because the bottom part moves a bit. This noise can be annoying, especially when you're enjoying the quiet of nature. You might even stop using them just to keep things quiet, which is what I did quite often, but that defeats the purpose of having the poles in the first place. I'd probably get my poles elsewhere if i knew this ahead of time. No complains other than that.

Walking Pole

No issues at all with this walking pole. I did extensive research and yes you can get lighter carbon one but there is no massive difference in weight. These are compact, easy to adjust and comfortable in the hand.

Good Quality & Value Walking Poles

Bought a pair of these a few weeks ago prior to going on holiday on Wales. I had never used walking poles before but bought them for some extra protection and following the advise from a guide. Used them for the first time walking up Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. Very glad I had them as provided extra support in very wet and slippery conditions as well as being very windy. Feel like they have proved their worth after the first time using. If you need some poles I would recommend these. At c. £30+ for the pair a very worthwhile investment

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

How it was designed...

This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The starting point of our design is the external locking mechanism for precise and fast adjustment. Combined with a push-pin that unfolds and folds automatically. Then we designed a handle that allows multiple grips: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents. Then we use our best 7075-T6 aluminium for controlled weight

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To do this: -pull the bottom strand all the way out until the auto push-pin (metal button) locks - open the lever of the external blocker - slide the tube to the desired length - close the lever Never exceed the STOP line to avoid the risk of breaking the pole.

Directions for use

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.

Care tips

Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the pole sold individually?

At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model

The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Hiking pole caps: ref. 8580865Summer baskets: ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857Replacement tip: ref. 8577675 or 8755646 (if new screwable version)Replacement ring: ref. 8642201Replacement stopper: ref. 8642202Lower section MT500: ref. 8642205

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
