Great Comfortable Jacket

After researching various down jackets, this Decathlon MT100 jacket was constantly in my radar. The quality of the down along with the high fill power of 800, makes this a no-brainer given the cost compared to others. The jacket is comfortable and warm, which I will be taking on a trip to Chile. I originally ordered too big and had to exchange for XL. The customer service was very quick and I was able to receive the exchanged size within couple of days. Overall a great product and great customer service experience.

Great down jacket!

a more than excellent quality/price ratio!

Fits great!

Finally, a puffer jacket that doesn't make me look like the Michelin Man! The cut is athletic and tailored around the waist, just like it looks on the model on the website. There are missing details and features that you might find on a $200 jacket, but for the outrageous sale price of $60 for 800 fill down you can't go wrong.

The best down jacket

The best down jacket I could have, I rubbed myself on rocks with it without a scratch, went on a trek in a snowstorm in the Pyrenees saved my life! I recommend 100%!

compact and very light,…

compact and very light, comfortable and warm

Bought the recommended XL which fit my shoulders, arm and torso length perfectly with a little room in torso. 5'71/2" 185lbs... broad shoulders/back (a bit out of shape) I normally wear a large in standard/classic N. American sizing and the XL in this jacket is in that sizing range. Not very 'puffy' but otherwise am pleased with it... we'll see just how it performs come the shoulder and cold months

Used as sleepwear on cold camping nites

Lite, packable and warm in the 30-40F range. I sleep with the jacket and hood in a lite sleep bag when cold backpacking. Put it on when I stop for the day and use it all nite when in sleeping bag. Fabric is not ideal for hike thru the bush but more than enough to handle tossing and turning at nite. Great value.

Perfect gift

Bought for a gift, I wear it every day and am very satisfied

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23° during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is 41°F in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to ”trap” air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). Down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. For this down jacket with its 85% down and 15% feathers filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN or more (international standard).

What is rds certification?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency.Summary: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

A snag? this is how to repair your down jacket

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch so the tear doesn’t get any bigger and the feathers escape. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

Product testing

10 trekkers (5 men and 5 women), independent of Forclaz, tested this down jacket during a week-long trek in November 2016, in the Mont Blanc mountain range. The feedback given to us after this test let us validate this down jacket for mountain trekking.
