About this item:

  • This backpack is made for multiple days hiking or trekking in autonomy. You can carry everything you need to camp, drink and eat on your back with comfort.
  • The MT500 AIR only weighs 3.8 lbs and can contain a total volume of 55 liters which we recommend for a trip over 2 weeks long. The top of the bag is adjustable and can hold an extra 10 liters of volume.
  • This backpack has plenty of features if you are looking for a technical option at a fair price: AIR concept back ventilation, rain cover, water bottle holder, hiking poles holder, 8 pockets and a compartment for a water bladder for easy hydration.
  • The AIR concept: in order for your back to dry faster, we added a mesh on top of a ventilated structure. Ideal for long and sweaty day hikes from one camp to another !
  • This is a women's backpack: This bag has been conceived for a masculine morphology (torso and hips). We recommend to consider the users physical morphology when you choose a bag for comfort purposes when carrying it on your back.
  • 10-year warranty: the fabric of the bag is ultra resistant and Decathlon is proud to offer this warranty for any defect that could appear in the next 10 years.

OK, but I replaced it with a smaller one (45+10), my wife preferred a lighter and more elegant one.

Top bag easily adjustable

Does not stick to your back, arrange several compartments and straps properly for the amount of luggage. Wears comfortably.

Water bottle compartment

Compartment for the water bottle, good idea, but the smallest ones fall out, it would be necessary to cross them to better support them

Compact but roomy enough. The only flaw is that it doesn't stay up on its own unless you attach something underneath, like a mattress.

Perfect for multi-day hikes

I tested the bag on the way to Santiago over several days. It was not 100% full, but weighed around 10kg. Once the adjustments have been made, straps and belt, the bag can be forgotten. No discomfort in the shoulders or hips. The straps inside the bag are practical for securing your belongings. An interior compartment (in addition to the one at the bottom of the bag) would have been welcome. I recommend ++

The worst backpack of my life

This backpack is only practical if you don't use it. The bottle holders are inclined and the bottles hit your elbows, preventing free movement in mountain activities. The top iron doesn't allow you to raise your head if you get stuck because you crash into it. It only works for smooth floors that do not need water or if you are going to carry a hydration bladder. The only positive thing is the front opening, but it's of little use to you if you can't really take it anywhere. Without a doubt, the worst backpack of my life

perfect, settings adaptable to…

Comfortable, functional and durable backpack

I took this backpack for a hike this weekend. Very comfortable with plenty of adjustment options. I love the free air flow on the back. Durable construction and materials. A very nice backpack honestly. Supposedly made for women, it still works very well with both genders. The only thing I think could have been better is the bottle holder. Quite nice to have a bottle holder this being said. However, it works best with a certain shape of bottles. I had a different type of bottle and it got lost when walking. I feel like losing your bottle though the bottom of the bottle holder should not be possible, regardless of the type of bottle you use.

Very practical and functional

The bag has a 55 L volume with an extra 10 L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. Air design

As with the MT900 UL line, the MT500 AIR range has a ventilated back structure with mesh fabric (net fabric) that helps the back to breathe and dries quickly. Rigidity is guaranteed by a reinforced frame. The back is adjustable with a release strap that’s easy and quick to use.

Polyamide main fabric 210D RS (Ripstop = increased resistance to tears), reinforced bag base (420Dx330D RS)

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 15 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps?

The new range of MT500 AIR and MT900 UL bags has two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this. The can also be detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.

Female body shape

Our women's models are adapted to the female shape (chest and hips). The shoulder straps are more open and the waist fitted higher for greater comfort and freedom of movement.

Product testing

All our backpacks undergo field tests by users who are representative of our target market under similar conditions to those you will encounter. To test, assess and validate products, our mission test connects the product manager responsible for the product design with individuals independent to DECATHLON. This backpack was tested by trekkers for 5 weeks in the Canary Islands, the Pyrenees and the Mont Blanc mountain range.

Storage instructions

Store your bag in a dry, ventilated place away from direct light.
