Product Customer Reviews
Too bad you can't adjust it to 105 cm. It starts at 110 and it's a bit big when you're 1.57 m tall. It fits folded into my small backpack
Effective.
Hello, good value for money. Used for trekking. Good weight and size. Easy to use.
I was looking for good walking sticks for my trip to Canada, hence my choice for these - rather expensive - walking sticks. During the trip I already had some problems. Once you unfold them, they seem 'stretched' and the bottom 'third' wobbles a bit loose. Solved thanks to my eternal duct tape at hand. Originally I also thought that this was normal. Because you also buy 2 sticks, and so you suspect that it is no coincidence that you have to duct tape both sticks on the folding pieces. Unfortunately, after a few kilometers I also lost a piece that had broken off. On the other stick I quickly removed that so that it would not break off either. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I had proudly taken out my sticks (and duct tape) when I went walking in the Ardennes with some friends. They also had walking sticks with them, all cheaper than what I paid, and they did fold/stretch nicely in and out. I was so ashamed! Decathlon has never disappointed me, but I was shocked by these walking sticks (which you have to buy individually). Retractable -with stretch- walking sticks automatically stretch, so you don't have to tape them. Even (much) cheaper sticks have the elasticity to switch to both foldable mode and functional walking stick mode within a minute. The fact that both the 2 sticks (which can be bought separately per piece) don't work like this is very disappointing! My first negative experience with Decathlon! Certainly if cheaper models, per pair, with the same spare parts on the legs (of which I lost one after half an hour), work much better (without tape), then this was a serious mistake!
I have used many different walking poles. I wanted to buy a folding pole for the first time for my flight with carry-on luggage. The product exceeded my expectations. I don't know how it performs on rocky areas, but I found it light, ergonomic and durable.
Excellent value for money.
very light, modular pole, folds easily into its bag
very practical poles that are easy to transport
J'enchaine les randonnées avec ces batons et je trouve difficiles de demander mieux. Tres solides, compactes, faciles a ajuster. Les dragonnes pourraient etre un peu plus confortable et ils ne sont pas particulierement leger, mais c'est vraiment mineur et ça ne gache absoluement pas mon plaisir de les utiliser.
Great!!
Lightweight and foldable option, ideal for hikers prioritizing portability. Priced at RM 149, it features a sleek design in eucalyptus green and smoked black. With a 3.8/5 rating from 8 reviews, it offers decent performance but may have some areas for improvement. Suitable for occasional trekking needs.
I appreciated the compactness and quick implementation of the pole. There are no rough spots along the pole to hinder walking in tall grass. The extended handle adds comfort of balance on steep paths. The quick adjustment of the wrist strap makes it easier to grip the pole with or without gloves.
I had never used poles before. I am very happy with them and I chose them because they fold up and fit in my backpack.
The minimum size is a bit high...
Easy to store, it fits nicely in a hiking bag, saves space, and the weight is okay
Additional Product Information
Composition
Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate
How it was designed...
Fully designed and validated by our team at the foot of Mont Blanc, a team with enthusiastic and demanding trekkers, during legendary treks: Mont Blanc, Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Tenerife. The pole’s durability has also been tested by a 550 km mission test in the Canaries and the Pyrenees (GR10).
Why have we worked hard on durability?
You trek to enjoy the calm of great expanses which sometimes takes you far from civilization. You also carry your belongings for several days. Therefore, you need to rely on the resistance of your poles. We have selected wider tubes in the highest grade aluminum. We have secured the push-pin area with internal reinforcement. Compression test results (pressure on the pole axis) show that this model can therefore support 560 N (~56 kg) per pole.
Why have we focused on compactness?
To get to your trek you will sometimes have to take transport. You will also have to carry all your equipment in your bag. It’s therefore much more practical to have compact poles. Once collapsed, these poles fit in the side pocket of your trekking backpack.
How did we design this handle?
We favoured EVA foam, soft material, perfect for handling perspiration and resisting tears. We added a long grip underneath the handle for a lower hold uphill and on banking terrain. The knob is the most comfortable in the range with its long, rounded shape and soft material. It provides good grip from above. Finally, we designed the wrist-strap without extra thickness and few seams to avoid blisters.
How to adjust your poles to the correct length?
To use the pole: firstly, extend the pole until the “click” of the push-pin. Refer to the instructions attached to the pole.To adjust the length: Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. - open the outer lever- slide the tube to the desired length- close the leverNever go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.
Directions for use
This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.
Care tips
Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.
Why is the pole sold individually?
At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.
Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model
The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Summer baskets : ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857
Product testing
To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.
Storage instructions
Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
