I am 5’11. Where will this jacket hit on me? I wish reviews had the option to filter by height. Also, hard to post question on mobile phone. Website makes it difficult to get to the “post” button.

We would be happy to provide you the lengh of the jacket. It differs from size to size. Would you please let us know which sizes you are interested in?

Fit is great, it's nice and warm for shoulder seasons and most Toronto winter days. Great value!

Warm and light! Great with the hood. Used it on holidays in winter in South Korea to -2C and worked well.

Very practical and warm down jacket Once folded, takes up very little space

An extremely light and practical jacket!

I highly appreciate the fact that it is extremely light and easy to compact, as well as the fact that it has a hood and does not crumple excessively when it is packed in a backpack. And if we associate it with other clothing items for layered protection, it is ideal for a wide range of temperatures, even lower than -5°. I have not tested its hydrophobicity in a more violent or long-lasting rain, but I am not convinced that it can cope, considering the consistency of the material in relation to the material of other jackets purchased from Decathlon and which are truly hydrophobic.

Loss of fluff after washing

This down jacket has quite a few advantages: very nice cut, warmth and lightness. On the other hand, even by following the tutorial (gentle washing at 30 degrees with tennis balls) and tumble drying in a laundromat with tennis balls, it is impossible to recover its fluffiness. It's a shame ! Great product as long as it is not washed. I bought the model in beige and in the light you can clearly see the agglomeration of the down in bundles.

I adore

I love this down jacket, bought 3 years ago and unfortunately lost a few months ago during a trip, I bought the same model again. Comfortable, great color. It's still a down jacket and isn't made to stay in the rain for too long. But it really does the job!

Great jacket, runs quite small

I usually get a small and I ordered a medium, it was still a bit small especially through the chest so size up at least one size maybe 2 especially if you have a bigger chest.

Perfect in size.

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

Inflating power of down/feather filling

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to ”trap” air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). Down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. For this down jacket with its 85% down and 15% feathers filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN or more (international standard).

What does the rds certification mean?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

A snag? this is how to repair your down jacket

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch so the tear doesn’t get any bigger and the feathers escape. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

Product testing

All our down jackets are laboratory tested in 5 km/h winds and worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use.

Storage instructions
