Affordable Rain and Winter Heat 🤌🏾

Bought this jacket purely and exclusively to use in the winter months AND as a raincoat in the same period. Because this is also a waterproof jacket, it is particularly warm and therefore very suitable as a winter jacket 👍🏾. Because I have not (yet) come into contact with snow with this jacket, I cannot speak about that type of weather. I would buy it again and certainly for that price.

Top purchase winter coat

What a fashionable top purchase. The zipper and buttons make the parka windproof, but the extra cord buttons add even more. The fur-lined hat is wonderfully warm.

Very good product

Tested for a week in Iceland in difficult conditions, excellent in wind and cold, if it rains a lot and you are exposed for a long time it eventually soaks through, I would have liked a little more protection from the rain, the elastic bands on the sleeves are great, also the drawstring adjustment at the waist, if you need to climb rocks, etc... you can open the side zippers to be able to move more comfortably... in short... if it breaks... I'll buy another one just like it!

The main advantage of this jacket is the great size ratio. I'm 172 cm, 70 kg, skinny legs, but for my height, my shoulders are quite big, it's a problem to find a jacket of the appropriate size and width for me, so that I can put my hands in front of me in a reasonable way. Here it's optimal, so great :)

Excellent jacket tested in…

Excellent jacket tested on a trip to Tromso (northern Norway on December 1st) - discovery of the fjords during the day and hunting for the northern lights at night - outside temperature -3 to -7, feels like -10 to -15 with the wind at 80km/h Heat preserved, for snow entries, a hat and hood are not enough, providing a balaclava would be a plus. The "mustard" colored lining will however get dirty quickly.

Can i be sure that my jacket is warm enough for my winter hikes?

We developed your jacket for intense wintry conditions: intense cold, snow, blizzards. The insulation is provided by thick wadding made of a synthetic component that insulates by trapping air in its fibres (double layer on the body and single layer at the arms). We added a long inner flap underneath the zip to stop cold air from entering. The system is supplemented by a drawcord at the hem to make the jacket comfortable down to -20°C.

How does my jacket protect me from outdoor conditions?

Your jacket is designed with a waterproof outer component that keeps out water and wind. To keep you warm in winter you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The anti-blizzard hood with detachable synthetic fur, wrist sleeves and a rising collar prevent cold infiltration. The high handwarmer pockets with fleece lining are perfect for protecting your hands in a comfortable position.

Waterproofness of this jacket

The waterproofness of a jacket isn’t limited to just its components: the assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion.Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities. As such, this waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e. 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.

Component waterproofing of this jacket

The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²0 (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 15,000 mm H²0 (Schmerbers) before washing.

A practical jacket with smart details

Practical and smart details: 2 hand warmer pockets, 2 outside pockets with flap, 1 secure inside pocket, 2 inside mesh pockets to have everything close at hand. The main zip has a long zipper pull and press studs and thumb pass so you can open or close your jacket while keeping your hands tightly snug in your gloves. The 2 easy zips at the bottom of the jacket allow you to bend or sit down comfortably.

A comfortable, unique style extreme cold jacket

We designed this jacket with a comfortable fit so that it could be worn with a warm second layer such as fleece or light down jacket. Its longline parka style is ideal for protecting you from the cold and wind during your winter hikes in large hilly areas or in the mountains.

Will my jacket withstand regular use over the long-term?

To ensure the durability of our products, we perform tests on the selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colour fastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests have been carried out on the component on your jacket.

How to preserve the technical qualities of my jacket?

A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.

How to dress properly for snow hiking?

To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer principle:layer 1: The high-tech base layer transfers moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry.layer 2: The second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and transfers moisture outwards.layer 3: The jacket protects you from the outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind. The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.

Product testing

All our products are tested in the field by user representatives and these tests are run in parallel to our laboratory tests. By conducting this comprehensive and demanding dual testing process, the technical features and design of our QUECHUA products is being continually improved. Your regular feedback is also taken into account to constantly improve our range.

Storage instructions

We advise you to wash your jacket with the zip closed.Always make sure that this waterproof garment is completely dry before storing it.
