Takes water after 3 hours of walking in the rain

Very pretty and practical jacket but having taken it for wet hikes... I am disappointed after 3 hours in the rain the jacket capitulated. the hike lasted 7 hours so imagine that I was soaked. the hood and pockets are very waterproof 👌

Superb value - but size up

I'm normally a size L but this jacket is VERY fitted. I had to size up to XL in order to be able to move easily and wear a jumper beneath it. The jacket itself is actually waterproof, so it's incredible value for money, especially when you compare it to the eye-watering prices for waterproofs from the big brands such as Arcteryx, Norrona, etc.

Beautiful jacket

Beautiful jacket, especially the smoky green color. On the other hand, after a few months of use I noticed that the fabric located under the bottom of the zippers has been damaged, I am afraid that it will open before 1 year of use: you should not open the zippers completely. pockets to avoid this except that they are located quite high (which is also the charm of the jacket). In short, small design concerns (choice of material, protection of the slides to be reinforced?)

Always stronger

I bought this jacket for mountain biking use and I am not disappointed. Perfectly waterproof with an index equal to or higher than overpriced jackets. The vents under the arms are ideal for ventilation when the effort is intense. Interior pocket, waterproof zip, nothing is missing.

The sleeves are a…

The sleeves are a little too big for the size I tried the size below too small and tighten

Not much 100% waterproof, 50/50 should be.

Good but could be improved

I haven't been able to test the jacket in rainy weather yet, but my girlfriend has approximately the same jacket from Decathlon in the women's version, and it is not waterproof, so I'm a bit worried about it. The general design of the jacket is good. And comparable or even better than that of well-known brands, of which I have some. And what's more, this jacket is relatively cheap. I also really like the gray-green color. The jacket is also lightweight and feels soft. And it also doesn't make any noise when moving like other raincoats. However, there are also some disappointing aspects of this jacket. She is a bit "slim fit" and could be wider. The sleeves could be wider, especially on the forearms and elbows. I bought an XL even though I am only 1.78 meters tall and weigh 78 kg. I usually only have an M or L in jackets. And this XL is a bit longer than an L. So this is not ideal. The front pockets are higher than normal side pockets, but are perfectly accessible. Perhaps Decathlon should provide them with small mesh pockets where you can place your mobile phone straight in, for example. 2 handy inner pockets, one made of mesh, but a bit small. The elastics on the bottom hem hang loose, I sometimes get caught in them... But despite the harsh criticism, I am still satisfied!

very nice and easy…

very pleasant and easy to wear

So far I haven't had the luck to try it in mountain rainy weather. Excellent in the heavy rain in the city though and I finally got to work without soaking wet sleeves.

Very good jacket, I…

Very good jacket, I tested it for 1 week on the ground in the rain and in quite difficult conditions and frankly at the top, we will see in time now

Use during a road…

Use during a road trip in the US, it is thin enough to be easily stored in a bag and protects very well during rain or passing near waterfalls. Comfort is very good and the storage in the pockets is large and practical. I didn't have any heavy rain for a long time to test the waterproofness further.

Very practical jacket for hiking, does not take up space in a bag, does not crease, effective as a windbreaker, not really tested in heavy rain but does the job in the Breton drizzle

Main component

3-layer component with membrane

The waterproof rating of a product depends on the following two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was made with a membrane. This is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight and breathable.

Layer design

3 layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performing jackets

Component waterproofing

Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. To this end, the resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm (JIS 1092 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product's component has a 25,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 25,000 mm water column. This is also equivalent to 25000 Schmerbers.

Water resistance of the jacket

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 18 cm rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 6 RET

How to restore the water-repellent properties

A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the waterproof spray (ref 8554908)

Product testing

Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. As well as numerous field tests, we test products in a laboratory according to the desired properties (e.g.: shower test for waterproofness, wind tunnel test for windproof properties, etc.).

Storage instructions

Always make sure this waterproof jacket is completely dry before storing it.
