Hat protects well from the sun and is durable. Used in July in the Pyrenees. Not used in rainy conditions. The only big downside is the use as soon as there is a little wind; the edges fold in the slightest breeze which makes it unpleasant to wear.

Waterproofing
How does Decathlon measure waterproofing? At Decathlon, we don't just consider the intrinsic quality of the component (in this instance, a fabric with a 20,000 Schmerbers rating) but we also test the waterproof qualities of the finished product in an environmental chamber reproducing different precipitation levels. This hat will protect you from a 4.7” rain shower for 2 hours, or 60 L of water per hour and per square meter: quite a downpour!
What makes ripstop fabric more durable?
The ripstop fabric is a mesh-type fabric. The warp and weft design helps ensure durability and prevent potential tears.

The entire design team was able to test this hat during frequent excursions in the Mont Blanc mountain range, where Forclaz – Decathlon's backpacking brand – has its offices.
