Product Customer Reviews

Very durable poles, not too heavy. 7 hours of walking in the mountains for 5 days, very good product.
Bought for my wife who wanted a second pole, useful together with the one she already owned, for walking uphill or downhill....
Very good in hand, negligible weight, easy to assemble and very practical.
Product proven in the Alps
Great clubs for a good price. They handle well, are stiff enough, durable, and relatively light. They hold well and have several grip options. I have compared with expensive poles like Leki Micro Vario Carbon Strong or MSR Dynalock Ascent Carbon and I have to say that none of these expensive poles seemed better to me. The only advantage was the 10 cm longer length. I returned the Lekis because they made weird screeching noises when I leaned into them, plus they didn't feel any stiffer or lighter, the MSRs weren't bad, but they cost 2x as much and didn't seem as durable. I used to rent these clubs and then I bought them. I use them mainly for snowboarding (when they are nice to pack in a backpack and have the option of changing the cups for winter ones - I praise them!), for smaller people they can also be good for skialps, they are also good for hiking and they could also be good for trail running (just not as light as running poles, but not heavy either). I am extremely satisfied with them and for the fact that I am not a huge fan of Decathlon, this is an excellent product at a great price... Maybe you could try making a carbon strong version in 120-140 cm length for taller people...
Awesome
Light and robust poles
I am very satisfied with this stick after more than 3 years of trekking (Reunion, Madeira, Morocco and others in France). longer trail.
I purchased 2 at different times so I am very satisfied

Successful purchase, recommended product
Lightweight and easy to mount
The 3 pieces are held together by a small silcon rubber triangle. Once the rubber wears off.... the pole just slides apart while in use. I had to duct tape the pole together to finish my hike. Good for been compact, but thats it. Not worth the higher price
practical and easy to store. but a stick tends not to hold and to unhook. I can't seem to set it very long
Purchased the pair at least three years ago, last July I realized that the removable pin that comes out automatically to block the pole remained partially inside the tube. I went to Decathlon Settimo and they told me that part is not replaceable. To avoid scrapping the other stick as well, I restored the torque by buying a new stick. Also, just two weeks ago during a trek, I noticed that the foam grip of the most used stick was going down along the metal part due to slack acquisition. I intervened with duct tape and a zip tie to stop the slide.

How it was designed...
Fully designed and validated by our team at the foot of Mont Blanc, a team with enthusiastic and demanding trekkers, during legendary treks: Mont Blanc, Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Tenerife. The pole’s durability has also been tested by a 550 km mission test in the Canaries and the Pyrenees (GR10).
Why have we worked hard on durability?
You trek to enjoy the calm of great expanses which sometimes takes you far from civilisation. You also carry your belongings for several days. Therefore, you need to rely on the resistance of your poles. We have selected wider tubes in the highest grade aluminium. We have secured the push-pin area with internal reinforcement. Compression test results (pressure on the pole axis) show that this model can therefore support 560 N (~56 kg) per pole.
Why have we focused on compactness?
To get to your trek you will sometimes have to take transport. You will also have to carry all your equipment in your bag. It’s therefore much more practical to have compact poles. Once collapsed, these poles fit in the side pocket of your trekking backpack.
How did we design this handle?
We favoured EVA foam, soft material, perfect for handling perspiration and resisting tears. We added a long grip underneath the handle for a lower hold uphill and on banking terrain. The knob is the most comfortable in the range with its long, rounded shape and soft material. It provides good grip from above. Finally, we designed the wrist-strap without extra thickness and few seams to avoid blisters.
How to adjust your poles to the correct length?
To use the pole: firstly, extend the pole until the “click” of the push-pin. Refer to the instructions attached to the pole.To adjust the length: Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. - open the outer lever- slide the tube to the desired length- close the leverNever go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.
Directions for use
This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.
Care tips
Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.
Why is the pole sold individually?
At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.
Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model
The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Hiking pole caps: ref. 8580865Summer baskets: ref. 8503854Winter baskets: ref. 8503857Replacement tip: ref. 8577676
Product testing
To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations.During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.
Storage instructions
Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
