I always choose this shoe

Good shoe, I have been choosing this model or its equivalent for years for my hikes (Switzerland, Pyrenees, etc.)

It is a trekking shoe with high value and low price. They are shoes that at the moment I find well made in the injection of the sole into the seams and in the gluing. The sole is not vibram but of discreet consistency with a very respectable, effective grip on grass and terrain, it is a little less performing on smooth wet surfaces. It is not a waterproof shoe but a breathable one suitable for fine/summer use. I find the gray blue black colors excellent... they are very discreet without having the heaviness of full black, they also allow you to use it as a casual sports/gray man shoe, and also as a travel shoe not necessarily for trekking and sports. The front part of the upper is very flexible but not excessively compliant, the back part of the shoe sole etc. it remains more rigid and supportive, sometimes slightly harsh in absorption at the heel but all in all not uncomfortable, perhaps this can be remedied with specific shock-absorbing insoles. The laces are not made of rigid cordage but have their own additional elasticity margins in the lacing which wraps well without ever creating more accentuated bottlenecks or shrinkage. The rubberized protections at the toe and heel are very good, protective and well made, well assembled for centering and ends, they allow you to breathe very well, you never have annoyingly wet toes or even a feeling of constriction while still giving a general tapered shape . My right foot is 278mm, it usually corresponds to a 10US and 44European but with this shoe bought in the store the 45eur was fine because the 44 was short. In general, the shoe seems to fit perfectly with a terry cotton sock and really nothing wide with a smaller thickness leaving the original insole. It adapted very quickly to the foot without causing any type of blister or irritation even when using it immediately on long, undemanding routes. I repeat, to be picky the heel area is only a little stiff in absorption but it is just right for a trekking shoe. which goes on sharp rocks etc... It is a fairly comfortable shoe for driving the car and for being used every day. The padding is substantial. The buttonhole sewn to the heel for hanging or pairing them is appreciated. It is an economical but valid product. It's difficult to find better at this price. Furthermore, I reiterate that despite being a sporty product, it is very discreet where bright colors are usually found and it is a good attitude of the product to be comfortable even on uncomfortable walks and still relatively presentable.

This year I have again…

This year, I took a size 45 again because with my foot problems I need to have space. Simple shoe, no added seams, easy maintenance. Good value for money. I've worn them every day for about 2 years. I buy a pair every year to refresh and I'm a woman. I would like to have other color choices because it has been the same color for at least 10 years.

Price performance product

I found the sole's shock absorption and performance on uneven surfaces good. A perfect price performance outdoor shoe for rainy and not too cold weather.

What is your hiking frequency and intensity?

We have classified our products in terms of performance and features for 3 levels of Mountain Walking:- occasional: about 10 hikes per year of about 3 to 4 hours in length, covering less than 10km and less than 700m in elevation gain.- Regular: about 20 outings per year. 4 to 6 hours, 10 to 20 km, 700 to 1200m of elevation gain per outing.- Intensive: more than 20 times a year. More than 6 hours, more than 20 km, 1200 to 2000m of elevation gain per outing.

Sole with grip

The grip of our soles is certified. To be awarded certification, the boots must pass laboratory tests to assess the grip rate on different surfaces (Smooth, Rugged, Dry, Wet). To validate these tests, we assess the quality of our soles in the field, in the mountains, by a panel of representative testers over 500 km

Which size should i select?

The most important thing is to try on several sizes and styles of boots to find the one most suited to you! You can take a size above your usual one to prevent the toes from bumping into the toe box when going downhill, provided the foot is properly supported to avoid friction.Tip: keep your toenails short and, before a long descent, check that your lacing is tight enough to prevent your foot from sliding forwards inside the boot.

Buying tips / how do you try your boots on?

Some Decathlon stores have a test route.1. Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. 2. Tighten the laces, taking care to correctly balance the tightening.3. Check two points:- the heel does not come up before the shoe when you walk uphill.- the foot does not slide and the toes do not press against the front when going downhill.4. Try on several sizes and models.Break them in gradually to adapt them to your foot.

Optimise the capabilities of your boots: replace your insoles!

The original insole in your shoes is designed to accommodate most feet. A change of insole can bring:1. Improved support: some soles are preformed or reinforced to better support the arch of the foot. 2. More comfort: the insoles can also provide heat and/or cushioning.3. Longer life: restore the support and comfort of your shoes by replacing the insole each season.

How should you look after your shoes?

- Leave to air dry.- Remove dry mud with a stiff brush. - Clean marks using a brush and some warm water- Leave to dry- Spray with a re-waterproofing product to restore the water-resistance to the upper.
