Light and comfortable

I walked miles with this bag without it weighing on my shoulders. I recommend it! Only one downside: the complicated use of the thin fasteners on the bag.

Don't plan on carrying a tent...

I purchased the backpack last July (July 26) in order to go on a 10-day hike, carrying a tent. Overall, I am disappointed with its design. As much for the weight of the bag and when there is no tent to carry, it meets the need, as soon as there is a tent, it is catastrophic: - the tent does NOT hold with the straps of the bag. Really not. I have an ultra light Quechua tent. I hung it under the bag. It fell all the time. I tried lots of different hanging techniques: crossing the straps of the bag, clipping the straps of the bag into the straps of the tent... what worked, in the very end, was to hang the two straps of the bag together by making a big knot, to prevent the straps from loosening. For your information, I did several days of hiking holding the straps myself... - the straps on the side, used to hang things, especially clothes that are drying, are unusable: I crossed them in all directions to try to make lines but it doesn't hold. - the bag itself is quite limited in carrying comfort. The first few days I had huge bruises - my bag weighed 12 kg with the tent, which is the maximum weight allowed. The carrying straps don't really reach the hips and I tighten them as much as possible without them holding. I'm 1m80 and very thin: so the female morphology is perfect for my shoulders, maybe less so for my waist/hip? The fact remains that it lacked padding at the hips and the possibility of tightening more. Not to mention the fact that the bag squeaks a lot: you can forget about walking in silence. The previous points that are essential for hiking really surprised and disappointed me, especially considering the cost of the bag. I would like to point out, however, that it has some real positive points: - its ultra light weight - perhaps a little too much compared to comfort - its rain cover - the storage in the hip straps, to have equipment to carry while walking - the accessible and practical water bottle holders

Very uncomfortable

I chose to invest in this bag for its weight. But the bag is very uncomfortable on the lower back. The lack of padding meant that I felt the frame which caused me burns. The side pockets are large, but can only be used to store bulky things since they are open along their entire length.

Lack of comfort at the back level I walked 800km lack of padding especially at the lower back

Backpack used…

Backpack used to do the GR20 in Corsica (northern part in 6 days) with the 2 water bottles the bag weighed around 10kg. Very good design of the "rear sail" fabric which allowed me to never have my back wet. The straps could be a little more "padded" even if my shoulders didn't hurt during the 6 days of hiking. Access to the water bottle through the side pockets is not possible once the backpack is full (I had not made this observation during my training on the 25 moguls course with the bag less full).

Ultra backpack…

Ultra comfortable backpack. I finally found what I was looking for for a long time.

Take it to Japan for mountain climbing. The backpack can be used as hand luggage, so you can board and disembark quickly without waiting for check-in. Fits the body shape, is easy to adjust, comfortable to carry, and feels less weight-bearing. It is very convenient to store and retrieve items, and the breathable interlayer can be used to stuff commonly used items such as slippers, jackets, etc.

Air design

Inspired by its sister, the MT500 AIR, this bag replicates many of the features of its ventilated back structure with a mesh fabric so that the back can breathe more and dry quickly.

Capacity

Volume of 45L with a +10L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in litres, with a margin of error of just a few %.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps?

The new MT500 AIR and MT900 UL series of trekking backpacks have two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 12 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

Female body shape

Our women's models are adapted to their body shape (chest and hips) with a more open shoulder strap shape and a higher fitted belt for greater comfort and freedom of movement.

Product testing

All our backpacks are field-tested by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. In particular, our Test Missions bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with DECATHLON to test, improve and validate the products. This particular model was tested over a five-week period by trekkers in the Canaries, Pyrenees and the Mont-Blanc mountain range.

Storage instructions

Store your bag in a dry, ventilated place away from direct light.
