A down jacket that goes with you…

An easy-to-carry down jacket that can be easily taken out of the bag in case of a cold snap.

Good jacket

The jacket is light and compresses well, it's always worth taking just in case, in case of a cold night

Very pleasant, light and…

Very pleasant, light and practical to wear: under the Quechua 500 waterproof jacket and above a short-sleeved t-shirt and a long-sleeved t-shirt with a small stand-up collar, both made from merino wool, we can already cope with fairly low temperatures.

I recommend it 100%

The jacket is one of the best purchases, warm, light, and not windy. An additional advantage is that it folds into a pocket without taking up much space.

Super satisfied - happy with it - recommended!

I had been looking for a jacket like this for a while. One review in particular appealed to me so much that I immediately ordered it. I have had it for 1 day now and I am super satisfied with the color, size, fit, thickness, warmth. For me the perfect choice for a good price. The only minor loss is an inside pocket (for a mobile phone, for example). But I'm happy to take this for granted as the rest is more than adequate :) Absolutely recommended!

Additional Product Information

Composition

Filling: 90.0% Grey Duck Down, 10.0% Grey Duck Feather ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyamide ; Main lining: 100.0% Polyamide ; Padding - Inner fabric: 100.0% Polyester

How warm is this padded jacket?

This down jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C , during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

How to repair your fleece?

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

Product testing

All our down jackets are laboratory tested in 3 mph winds and worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use.
