Worn to Iceland at the end of Dec 2024, there was a blizzard and heavy snow, these kept me warm. Only used for 8 so can't confirm durability

Don't buy these socks, they are NOT wool

These used to be my favourite hiking socks and I have bought more than a dozen pairs over the years. Sadly Decathlon have steadily decreased the wool content to the point they are simply not wool socks. The meagre 29% (alleged) wool content now seems to be confined to the collar of the socks. The feet appear to be entirely composed of shiny, nylon-type fibres. In addition they are now loose, baggy and ill fitting from the arch of the foot to the toes. I wore them for the first time for a relatively short walk; within an hour my feet were sweaty and damp. Totally unbreathable compared to wool socks. That, combined with the poor fit resulted in several blisters on my soles and toes. I have NEVER had blisters with the previous versions of these socks with a higher wool content. I am returning all four pairs. For heaven's sake Decathlon, what were you thinking?!

Additional Product Information

Composition

Socks: 46.0% Polyamide, 3.0% Elastane, 29.0% Wool, 22.0% Acrylic

The properties of wool

Thanks to its fine structure and irregular, flaky surface, which lets it store a lot of air and through which water vapour can diffuse, wool has unique properties in terms of moisture management and thermal regulation. Its ability to store and release moisture, as well as its buffering effect, make it an insulating, comfortable material that is well suited to hiking socks.

How do i choose the right footwear for snow hiking?

To be well equipped in winter, we recommend that you follow these guidelines : Warmth: warmth provided by a warm pair of socks (ideally containing a suitable percentage of wool)Breathability: Choose the sock according to the intensity of the hike and make sure you wear a breathable model to minimise moisture.Boot height: adapt the height of the sock to the height of the upper and preferably choose high models if you want more protection.

Pack of 2 pairs

This model is sold in packs of 2 pairs of socks in the same colour.

How to correctly select hiking socks

Benefiting from the properties of the elastane used in all our socks, they conform to your feet and stay firmly in place during wear. Given that the length, width and volume of our feet is always different, we advise you to try on your socks in store before purchase and then to test your socks before setting off on a long hike.

Product testing

All our products are tested in the field by user representatives and these tests are run in parallel to our laboratory tests. By conducting this comprehensive and demanding dual testing process, the technical features and design of our QUECHUA products is being continually improved. Your regular feedback is also taken into account to constantly improve our range.

Storage instructions

Dry your products thoroughly before storing them.
