Perfect

Bag bought for a road trip in Europe Perfect, practical with its side and top opening and the adjustable straps for the back or pockets / pouches. The inserts on the sides are a real plus for large capacity water bottles. I recommend!

Ultra light!

Really very light Trek bag, the different bags allow you to store everything you need to leave with peace of mind. Good distribution of the load between the shoulders and the pelvis, real carrying comfort and a real plus over the distance. Used every day on 20km sections.

Almost perfect!

Hello. I have been hiking in the mountains with this bag for a little over a year now. Overall I am delighted with it! The positives: Rather light Not too expensive Pretty You can customize it a little to save weight and erase some flaws. Practical multi-adjustments of the straps and carrying straps effective and simple! The two pockets on the waist belt are very practical! Solid! Practical and solid zipper on the length of the bag, possibility of opening it from the bottom. The negatives: Most of the straps are too long (I cut them, a formality, small weight gain) The side pockets are poorly designed, impossible to access them properly while walking, side string system really not great, you risk losing the contents while walking! (I also customized and closed these pockets using the original strings, no more risk of losing their contents) Central back pocket a little small but I'm nitpicking... I removed the removable pocket on top, useless for me, also useless the cover-rain that I replaced with a Nylofume waterproof bag (200gr saved!) The straps are not super comfortable but you end up getting used to it, I rarely exceed 12kg of load. The bag does not stand up, I find that a shame... Despite its small flaws and if I had to do it again I would take the same one, I recommend it to you!

Great backpack with good price-quality ratio

Great backpack, carrying comfort is good but you should not load it too heavy (= +15kg). Although not ultralight, you do have a ventilating carrying frame with mesh. I cannot yet make any statements about whether this backpack will remain intact, 3 months of use is too short for that. Handy zip pockets on the hip belt for small items. It takes some getting used to packing because the main compartment is 1 whole without compartments, it is handy that the zip runs over the entire height of the backpack, so that you can reach everything without having to empty it. In my opinion, the side pockets could have been closed. All in all, I am quite satisfied with it. Top price-quality ratio.

Incredible

By FAR the best backpack I've ever had. It's not the lightest on the market, but it makes up for it with the abundance of compartments and attention to detail that no other UL backpack has. Absolutely perfect, I would just like to know why they didn't include the usual elastics at the top because it's not particularly expensive and I'd rather have to remove them than add them, but that's it, it doesn't take anything away from the backpack.

Amazing: light and full of compartments

The bag is great. Well designed. Lots of pockets, very practical, especially those on the side that are accessible while walking. As for the squeaks implied by some comments. When the straps are adjusted properly, you can no longer hear this noise.

Super practical with opening all over the bag. Very comfortable on the back. Light. I don't regret it.

I am excited about…

I am enthusiastic about this backpack that I have been using on the GR 34 for 10 days now, it is good in every way, I have seen some comments saying that the straps were too long, that the pockets were not practical, this and that, the gloomy minds should calm down because it is great value for money and I know what I am talking about, I had another Osprey atmos 65 bag at €250, which was no better except perhaps for the carrying comfort but at 2.5 kg instead of 1.3 kg. So bravo to the designers.

The backpack looks well made. It is relatively light and pleasant on the back. Pockets and various compartments for drinks, etc.. are well thought out and practical. I haven't used enough to be able to evaluate the durability, but I believe it will be good :)

The poor waterproof lining, and hard to pack

it is a lightweight, but, also it is hard to access to, overall, and all the strings are not as good as the other models' straps. The Main compartment is shallow (see the side view of the male model) and, the side pockets are limited to a wide flat stuff only. I am tempted to look at more easy-to-organize & access to type of bags even it is slightly heavier. And, the inside lining (silicon-like) is peeling off inside, especially where it is at the frames. The only pro comment is it fits the body (dispersed weight on the back) better than the other models from Decathlon.

Very good value for money

Very good bag for the price quite light spacious

Tested 30 days on HRP in 2024

Well thought out and comfortable bag. I particularly appreciated the double zip which allows access to the entire bag quite easily. The only downside: after 28 days, the attachment of the small grey strap which keeps the top of the compartment closed once it is tightened and "rolled" tore (normal use however). I was able to finish without it breaking completely but it will need repair. The square of fabric sewn to hold this attachment is much too "light".

Good trekking bag

Hello I bought this bag to do the GR20 in 2022 and it did the job very well. I was looking for a light, functional and well thought out bag. The compartmentalization is good: - I appreciate the large volume and the possibility of being able to open everything thanks to the large zip. - The top hat pocket is also practical, be careful not to fill it too much. On the other hand, it is a little complicated to remove it - The hooks for the poles are also well thought out - I appreciate the pockets at the hips to put my phone in and be able to look at the GPS track and take photos quickly. - The side pockets are ok for storing things, toiletry bag, towels, bottles etc ... However the wires get tangled and the hooks can break. - The water pocket works well too. - The bag seems quite wide at the bottom when the side pockets are full Apart from that the blue look with yellow details is pretty and works. - The straps are comfortable in the long run. I use it for treks and also as a travel bag for the train. After more than 2 years of use I recommend the product. Thank you to the team of designers and engineers at Decathlon

Air design

Inspired by its sister, the MT500 AIR, this bag replicates many of the features of its ventilated back structure with a mesh fabric so that the back can breathe more and dry quickly.

Capacity

50 L volume +10 L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in litres, with a margin of error of just a few %.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps?

The new MT500 AIR and MT900 UL series of trekking backpacks have two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.

Complementary accessories

To make your MT900 UL bag easier to use, check out our storage accessories, repair buckles or hanging straps on our website.

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 12 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

Materials

Main fabric in 100D RS polyamide (ripstop = additional resistance to tearing), reinforced bag bottom (210D RS)

Product testing

All our backpacks are field-tested by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. In particular, our Test Missions bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with DECATHLON to test, improve and validate the products. This particular model was tested over a five-week period by trekkers in the Canaries, Pyrenees and the Mont-Blanc mountain range.
