I discover that the…

I discovered that the sleeveless down jacket I bought is for men!!! No problem, it looks great on my perfecto (that was the goal). Nothing to complain about, it's perfect for me.

Excellent vest

This is an excellent vest at a very reasonable price point. It’s warm, durable, and high quality. Love the packability as well. Note: I’m 6’1 185lbs and always wear size medium with North American brands like Lululemon and Vuori. I needed to size up for this vest to a large. The medium was unwearable - very tight. Can’t speak to water repellency yet. Like that the down is RDS certified.

Very functional sleeveless down jacket. Recommended depending on the weather.

Do not put in the machine

First wash (cold) the down jacket is ruined, all the padding is in a ball. The washing label should be reviewed. Considering the price one would expect better quality

Excellent clothing accessory

The use needs to be chosen according to the expected conditions of use. As a top layer, e.g. for a sweatshirt, it is suitable for nice autumn weather without rain. In worse weather (wind, rain), it is suitable as a warm layer on the back under a waterproof windbreaker that has a hood.

Smaller than the size listed

Ordered a 2XL, but it's not even an XL US, it won't close with a sweater on.

stylish even with a shirt

Good addition to warmth for the off-season and goes very well with a well-dressed outfit.

Very good jacket, warm…

Very good jacket, warm and down, however I had to return to the store to change the size because purchased online the size is an "Asian size" and not a European size. You are purchasing a size 2 xl but the actual size is an xl

Nice down jacket but I…

Nice down jacket but I washed it at 30 deg. Came out of the machine, not wrung out, put to dry on a hanger and all the padding is in a ball so it's impossible to put it back on. Too bad for the price Even if on the other criteria it was good I don't recommend it

For hiking and the city

very good product whether used during your hikes, in town or indoors (when you stay still). The level of warmth is excellent, the down jacket is not bulky, the finish and the quality of the product are of a very good level.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Filling: 85.0% Grey Duck Down, 15.0% Grey Duck Feather ; Lining: 100.0% Polyamide ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyester

Why wear a down vest?

A vest helps to keep the body warm. It protects the chest, neck and kidneys from the cold, as these areas are especially sensitive to chills. It is sleeveless so it saves weight in your backpack, provides even more breathability during exercise and excellent comfort of movement when worn under a jacket.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports:- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers- Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack- Ultra-compressible

Inflating power of down/feather filling

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to ”trap” air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. For this sleeveless down vest, with its 85% down/15% feather filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 660 CUIN or more (international standard).

What is rds certification?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected.

Weight of the filling

S: 4.2 oz. (119 g)M: 4.4 oz. (124 g)L: 4.6 oz. (130 g)XL: 4.8 oz. (136 g)XXL: 5 oz. (142 g)XXXL: 5.2 oz. (149 g)

How to care for a down and feather vest?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 86°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin between 800 and 1000 rpm. 2/ - Tumble dry on cotton mode with 2 or 3 tennis balls, repeat 2 or 3 times until dry.

A snag? here's how to repair your sleeveless padded vest

A tear on a padded vest can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping.Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your sleeveless padded vest using a heat-bonded patch.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it during prolonged exposure to the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded vest, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimizes its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
