Perfect winter present for my partner

I bought this jacket for Christmas present to my partner. He absolutely love it and the design is perfect and simple. Highly recommend!

Lightweigh , Warm

Very happy with this lightweight and warm jacket that folds down into its own pocket - replaced a fleece that was twice the weight and much more bulky

Not good if washed.

My son has this jacket and l washed it as per instruction. I kept shaking whilst drying outside, but the filling was all bunched together and the jacket now looks awful. I am now left to buy a new jacket to replace, but no another of these. Advice , DO NOT WASH.

So compact but very warm

Bought this on many recommendations, I was not disappointed. First of all, this is an extremely light and packable down jacket, in fact it squeezes into its own right pocket to pack away, has double zips on one pocket to do this. It looks great, love this particular colour. Very warm at -3c a couple of weeks ago on a camping trip. Not waterproof, obviously most fleece jackets for camping are very light so you can pack them tiny, so the outer shell fabric is light, may brush off very very light rain but put a waterproof over it.

Value for money

Brilliant jacket. If you insist on having a fashion badge on your jacket then go ahead and pay £100’s of pounds for the equivalent. I would recommend going a size up though.

Great down puffer for the price

It’s my first down jacket and it’s so warm, cosy and lightweight. I planned to use it as an insulation layer between a t-shirt or fleece and a shell jacket but will probably wear casually. The only negative is the fabric is very tight at the bottom around the hips. I ordered a medium which is my normal size for any clothing for a top. This jacket is perfectly fitting around the arms, shoulders and torso but tight around the hips even on the loosest setting with the elastic cord. It rides up into my waist. I would recommend but be sure to try on first.

Three season jacket

Large it is not. tight on the body long on the sleeves. Order at least one size bigger than than normal. Made for tall skinny people. Well made.

MT100

Not impressed at all, nice looking jacket but that’s it. Followed the instructions for washing and it didn’t come out the way it went in, it’s now all clumped up and I can’t get it back to the way it was. I have the old synthetic version of this jacket and that’s still alive and well after a numerous washes.

Best value for money

Bought this after having seen tons of hikers review it on YouTube and comment how it was ‘pound for pound’ the best down jacket they’ve had. They’re so right. It’s warm, light, comfortable - just perfect. Haven’t yet tried it in real cold temperatures but can’t wait to. Tempted to go and buy a second jacket just because of how much I love it so far. Great buy.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Filling: 90.0% Grey Duck Down, 10.0% Grey Duck Feather ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyamide ; Main lining: 100.0% Polyamide ; Padding - Inner fabric: 100.0% Polyester

How warm is this padded jacket?

This down jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23°F (-5°C), during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is 41°F (5°C) in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency.Summary: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°C, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

A snag? how to repair your fleece

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.
