warm jacket, I recommend...

A must for trekking

This is the best jacket I have ever had

You know what, I'm a middle-aged woman and I had many, many winter jackets in my life. All of them were made by more "prestigious" and much pricier brands. It's my first model below 200 euros and I feel like I have been continuously allowing myself to be robbed. I have never had a jacket that would accommodate my pear figure better than this one. I'm autistic and I obsess about the fit of my clothes all the time and I have finally found my thing. It's like spoken for me. Additionally, I have never had a jacket that would be so tiny when squeezed and packed, and yet so lightweight and compact. And all this for 59 euros. My God. One bad thing is, that some threads have started to get undone on the seam but I'm just going to swap my piece for another and it should be dandy. If you have waay more hip than waist, just get this model. Just do it.

Good product, good insulation,…

Good product, good insulation, very good protection

Light, warm, compact, fitted...

Light, warm, compact, fitted. I also wear it under a coat that is not lined, which suits me perfectly.

The product is good…

The product is good overall except that it is a little too short and lacks the hood for value for money. I find it a shame €60. I would have liked to have the hood though. Otherwise good product overall. Good luck to the whole team.

Nice jacket but this…

Nice jacket but what annoys me, no carrying bag.! No pocket inside, yet practical for hiking. The pockets do not close. I had not checked these details. So disappointed for the value for money, I would have taken a down jacket from a Korean brand which has all these details

Additional Product Information

Composition

Filling: 90.0% Grey Duck Down, 10.0% Grey Duck Feather ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyamide ; Main lining: 100.0% Polyamide ; Padding - Inner fabric: 100.0% Polyester

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to ”trap” air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

What is rds certification?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

How to repair your fleece?

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

A score for comparing products' environmental impact

The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of this environmentally-friendly labelling approach.

Product testing

All our down jackets are laboratory tested in 3 mph winds and worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use.

Storage instructions

Store on a hanger in a dry place. Do not store folded in its pouch.
