Excellent Cost x Benefit

Good quality product with impeccable finish. Despite having only used it a few times so far, it fulfills its purpose of protection against low temperatures. Below 12º to 10º C it may be necessary to think about a second combined skin. Comfortable, very light on the body and, when stored in a pocket, it is extremely compact, making it easy to carry in backpacks, bags and suitcases.

Very good product

Very good product

Great value for money

The jacket seems delicate and thin, but nothing could be further from the truth. It holds heat well, is comfortable, and compact when I'm not wearing it. Rezva remember that it is not intended for rain! It works great as a layer under a waterproof jacket. For the price this is a great down jacket.

Very good as a layer…

Very good as a warm layer over 2 fine merino t-shirts, 1 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve, under a hiking rain jacket ⁹

Great jacket

Great jacket with natural down for this price. Very practical and comfortable, good both as an outer layer and as an insulating layer under, for example, a raincoat. A nice addition is the ability to roll the jacket into a pocket, which makes transport easier. The only drawback may be the size, I chose a size between M and L.

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

What is rds certification?

RDS or “Responsible Down Standard” is a worldwide certification issued by an independent organisation to volunteer brands. This standard enables us to guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from geese and ducks raised for their meat and slaughtered before down and feathers are collected.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency.Summary: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

A snag? how to repair your fleece

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.
