I just passed…

I just spent a night waiting, unfortunately wherever there was stuff on the floor there was a lot of humidity which had penetrated the floor mat. In addition, it didn't rain at all, just the evening dew before setting up the tent. I would like to return it to the store to get another one that is more resistant to humidity.

Was a nice tent, unfortunately only the tent pole was broken

Easy tent to set up and take down on your own. Big enough for 2 people, tight for 3 people. Unfortunately, the sticks are not as sturdy as I thought. After using it 3 times, a tent pole broke and went through the tent. So both the tent and the poles can no longer be used.

Terkking dome tent

Nice tent but on the second assembly a pole broke!!!! I'm going to contact the service....

Trek tent MT 500

I was forced to quickly buy a new one after my tent was destroyed. The decision fell on this tent. I found the advantage mainly in the combination of tropical and bedroom. I note that I am writing the review after 4 days of use in mid-September (day temperature 22 C/night 12 C). Morning fogs + dew in the place of residence (foothills), absolute regularity. I'm a biker and I lived in a tent by myself and my gear. The size of the packed tent is satisfactory and so is the weight. The first pitch of the (dry) tent is really very fast and the size and height of the bedroom + both vestibules are perfect. Overall, I am very satisfied with the stand, the duralumin bars fit together perfectly and the position is really nothing complicated or demanding. I just recommend not using unnecessary brute force during assembly, but rather common sense. Cons : 1) The top spreader bar is a bit dangerous for facial injuries. Especially when entering the tent in reduced visibility. 2) Could be one extra locking pin (in case of loss/damage). 3) Drainage channels at the opening of the atria. If you intend to leave the tent in very wet conditions (dew, rain), you need to take into account that some water will end up in your bedroom as well. 4) The floor in the tent is really disastrous. Whatever was on the floor was wet in the morning in the area of contact with the floor!!!! Both the mat, clothes, power banks, it was enough to put your hand on the floor for a little while and it was wet in about 2 minutes!!!! It was enough to dry everything properly during the day, but contact with larger surfaces had to be interrupted. 5) Packing a tent in high humidity is not as simple as in the video. The problem is mainly with the removal of duralumin rods. I attribute the problem to increased friction between the fabric and the rods. 6) After packing the wet tent and unfolding it again - the tent is very heavy to lift and without the help of a second person there is a risk of deformation of the duralumin rods. In the event that the tent is erected, you will find that the bedroom is completely wet. In addition, the weight of a tent packed in this way increases significantly. 7) There is only one storage pocket in the bedroom, and it is quite unhappily made. Almost nothing fits there, it is only on one side of the bedroom and things are not placed in the compartment from the top, but from the side. I hereby appeal to the manufacturer!!!! 1) Fix the floor problem. That's where I see the biggest problem!!! Preferably by choosing a different material!!! 2) Mark the ends of the attachment of the upper duralumin bar with very, very reflective paint!!! 3) Supply at least one spare pin in the shopping set. 4) Create more efficient storage pockets. Do I recommend this product? Yes - if you spend more than two days in one place. For max. 2 people with equipment. For 3 people without equipment. No - in case you will be moving to a different place every day and there is a risk of high humidity. Price/performance ratio - 7 points (max 10 points)

Defective

After the first use, one of the gaskets that hold the rain cover broke. The product was returned and all respect to those from Decathlon who took over the instant tent and returned the amount of money paid. From this point of view 5 stars. Thank you

I recommend

Convenient and comfortable tent, withstands heavy downpours. Inside there are 3 pockets which are a little small but not critical.

Worst tent ever bought

I've been going to tents since there were only Canadians. Bought this model at the beginning of August, used it for 8 nights with sporadic light rain and no wind. Breakage of a load-bearing post; frays on the sides of the zippers; the bottom is too thin and gets abundantly wet, probably due to excessive condensation. The only thing I find positive: small packaging size (for a really thin bottom). Brought back to the shop

Perfect choice for downpours

I used this product at the Hamburg Wacken festival. Despite the heavy rain that fell for 3 days, it did not pass a drop of water. Those who are curious can explore the Wacken festival 2023.

Repairability issue, parts availability

I've been using this tent very regularly for 3 years now and it fulfills all the functions it's an excellent product. However, following a problem with the upper arch (holding the two apses), I had to send the tent back to your workshop for repair. After a few days, the tent came back with a pole that did not correspond to the original (too short in length) => the workshop does not have the capacity to recommend a new or used pole to replace it. I do not understand that we cannot order these spare parts while the tent is still produced and sold in your stores. It is, moreover, one of your selling points, waste reduction and ecology through repairability. Can you improve the availability of parts on tents? I still want to point out that the customer service was perfect, as usual, and that they replaced my tent with a new one without any worries! I would have preferred to fix it :)

interesting tent, but I question longevity?

Hello, I bought this tent 3 years ago, I must already be at a dozen weeks of use. I like the size, the weight, the space inside. But - the ground fabric already has holes, it is fragile, and the humidity goes up there - a fastener between the inner tent and the roof has torn - a pole is broken - the storage bag for the pegs and stake is not practical at all. Otherwise, an ideal tent for traveling by bicycle or motorbike for two.

defect at the level of the arches

The tent bought 4 years ago, used for three seasons. Since the first use the problem of the poles which crack and then break. I replaced the damaged elements -6 pieces (the price of the important replacement kit) in addition damaged tent because of the broken poles which drilled two holes in the fabric. This year the rebelote, after a week of use, almost all the original hoops are cracked and some broken. The reinforced tape plus the repair kit allowed us to temporarily repair the damage and continue the stay at the campsite. I am really very disappointed with this product.

tent at the top for beginners in trekking BUT ..

Tent easy to set up and take down. Good ventilation inside and the taut wire integrated into the tent in the cabin is practical for hanging up some wet clothes. The outdoor storage areas are practical but would deserve floor protection. Quite heavy, but considering the price it's normal for the range. BIG NEGATIVE POINT: one of the main arches has completely cracked. Abnormal for trekking equipment supposed to be assembled and disassembled regularly! It was only the 6th time I took it apart! So in terms of the reliability of the equipment, it's a big black spot! this is probably the price to pay for the entry level! But a pity all the same that it breaks so quickly!

Catastrophic tent has gone up…

Pitching/striking

Extremely quick pitching/striking. The flysheet and bedroom are pre-assembled. You then need to insert the tent pole in the sleeves of the flysheet (color code). It is also quick to strike. To store the tent in its bag, just fold up the tent until it is as wide as the bag, fold up the tent poles into a bundle, and place them on the bedroom or the flysheet, and roll everything up into a small bundle to fit it all in the bag.

Waterproofing

Forclaz tents are laboratory-tested: pitched tent, 200 liters/m²/hour (4 hours, equivalent to a tropical storm). They are also tested in the field by a sample user group.75 denier polyester flysheet, polyurethane-coated (interior) water-repellent treatment (exterior), P75D groundsheet in the bedroom.Seams taped with heat-sealed strips.Multicomponent bedroom (P66D) that is breathable, provides protection from the wind, and reduces condensation.

Wind-resistance

We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind.To test its wind-resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 45 mph, measured near ground level. Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes.

Ventilation and condensation prevention

Bedroom with mosquito net sections for ventilation and water-repellent fabric sections to protect from condensation and drafts. Large vent at front of tent and additional vent at feet end.To reduce condensation inside your tent, it must be properly pitched, with the fabric kept taut without being overstretched. Vents and good air flow will help reduce humidity inside your tent.

Seasons

3-season tent: Your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you can encounter in the spring, summer, or autumn. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure. In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly in order to bring down any snow that has accumulated to avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.

Product testing

The waterproof rating of the Forclaz tents is validated by placing a pitched tent under 200 L/m²/h shower of water (tropical rain) for 4 hours, and checking that no water passes through the seams, flaps, openings, zippers, etc. The water column test (= mm Schmerber) measures the waterproof rating of the fabric. We test all our tents in a wind tunnel, on a rotating table to check all 4 sides. We also perform tests on the components (abrasion, tearing, perforation, etc.)

Storage instructions

After using or cleaning the tent, dry it thoroughly before storing to avoid bad odors and mold.
