Question:

I want to swap the front chainring on my Tirban GRVL120. What is the direct mount standard used there? I need to order online, but can't find any info on which chainring I need to get.

Answer:

Its a single chainring Microship 38tooth ring H100 10 speed system currently. All Microshift cranks use a 24mm spline, so you can replace the crank set with another system with 24mm or change the bottom bracket and use any crank you like.

Brakes feel cheap Overall decent

I was having a hard time looking for a gravel bike for a tall person and this XL was as large as some XXL bikes from different brands. I tested several others, but this one to me stood out as the best value overall, and definitely one of the best to ride regardless of the price. Don't get me wrong, it's not the same as a brand name bike that costs 3 times more, but to me it is as good if not better than bikes costing 50-100% more. The tires keep pressure well (and I'm a big guy), the bike is so balanced that for the first time ever I learned to ride without holding the handlebars, naturally, and the bike is so fast through the dirt, as if it's gliding on air. i found the seat to be very comfortable, the micro shifters shift very well and positively, and the overall frame geometry is just right. My only negative is the braking is not very strong, but it's adequate and on par with the market in this price range. The only way it gets better is with hydraulic brakes ($$). The bike is also very light. I can't comment on long term longevity but the first impressions are highly positive.

Great value for money.

Great bike on paper, but the price point really reflects the quality of certain components used. The bike rides and feels great, but passed the 500km mark, you will likely need to replace the wheels, tires, spokes and brake calipers. I rode this bike for a few months, mostly on pavement, as a commuter. As much as I enjoyed riding the bike, I've had multiple flat tires, broken spokes and brake failures, which could all be attributed to cheap components and fabrication defects. Aftersales service were also less than helpful, and pretty much accused me of sabotaging the bike to get replacement parts. I will have ended up putting another 700-800$ in replacement parts and labor on the bike just to make is useable again for next season, without mentioning the time sink this represents. It's still cheaper than buying a new bike, but I regret going with this one in the first place, especially considering the 1k$ price tag. You're better off spending the 500-1000$ right from the start to get a brand name and more reliable bike and save the headache. I do not recommend this bike, and I will not be buying sports equipment from Decathlon again.

Good purchase

I am a newbie to cycling. The truth is, it is a very good purchase, although the seat is somewhat uncomfortable, but I think it is a matter of getting used to it.

Great bike !

Bought this bike to get into gravel in 2022. My first major race was Vermont Overland, 98km and over 2300m of elevation gain with class IV sections ... it handled everything to perfection Since then i've changed the crankset in order to get a crank power meter and that's it. I race for results and i have placed top 50 in several gravel races with possibly the cheapest bike It could be lighter, brakes could be better ... but you can start with this and changed parts as you go. For the price it is unbeatable. Also it is quite fast on the road with those 38mm tires. Great job Decathlon!

Excellent gravel bike

It is an ideal gravel bike and unbeatable for its price, very comfortable, light, agile, fast, and rough roads feel much more enjoyable than with many other bikes. The shifting mechanism is very fluid, and the brakes are powerful and responsive. It is the best new bike I have ever purchased.

Definitely worth the money for this bicycle! If you're looking to go fast, but prefer pavement and PCN to roads, yet wants to experience drop bar instead of flat bar, this is definitely a great entry level bike to attempt.

gear shifter gets stuck between gears

the brakes not as firm as i’d thought but the biggest problem is the gear shifting on the low gears. seems like the chain gets stuck between gears and the chain noise is there

Very fast delivery of the product. Excellent product for an entry level gravel bike. The bike handles well and very fast. The mechanical disc break needs getting used to if and you may need to balance out front and rear breaking accordingly. The seats are not the most comfortable but does its job. I'm 180 cm and the L size bike suits me just fine. I'm looking forward to riding more in the next couple of days so I can provide a more thorough review. So far, I love it!

Triban gravel

Surprising, responsive and comfortable, the M frame perhaps seems smaller than the frame of other RCs. Another geometry? The bike is really very pleasant, light and encourages aggressive riding. The brakes are OK nothing more, the rest is good (fork, Microshift, saddle). The best bike at this price

all around bike

Great bike! Good speed and good on rough roads. The RC120 frame is comfortable for longer rides then configured to gravel made it feel a more steady and secure ride anywhere. I previously had the normal RC120 but this is a great variant of it too. Love it

Great bike

Got a Peloton about a year ago which gave me the itch for road biking and this fit the bill. Great fun on the road was able to get to 26 mph on flat and does well on gravel as well. Recommend.

Love the Bike, Tires Are Less Than Ideal

I think for everything you get with this bike it's a great buy, especially considering I was actually able to get it in a timely manner in 2021 when everything bike related seems to be backordered by months. Shifts great, brakes work well once you break them in and the geometry, handlebars and seat all just work super well. That said, the only criticism I have (and it's really not enough to lower the review) is the tires. Caught a bad puncture from a tiny piece of glass while commuting and had to walk the last half mile to work. Not the end of the world, but I've picked bigger pieces of glass out of every other bike tire I've ever owned without issue. Some caused slow leaks that were easily fixed/plugged, but this tiny piece of glass (like a couple of mm) gashed the tire. With this being marketed as a gravel bike I'd really like to see it ship with a more durable tire even if that meant a sacrifice in speed/rolling efficiency. I think the reason most people buy this bike over some of Decathlon's road offerings is the perceived additional durability. I'm gonna replace the tires with a slightly larger, slightly more aggressive kevlar tire and I suspect it will be an amazing bike for the price, even with the new tire purchase. I'd strongly recommend this bike, but just make sure you're prepared to replace the tires from day one.
