About this item:

  • This backpack is made for multiple days hiking or trekking in autonomy. You can carry everything you need to camp, drink and eat on your back with comfort.
  • The MT500 AIR only weighs 3.7 lbs and can contain a total volume of 50 liters which we recommend for a trip over 2 weeks long. The top of the bag is adjustable and can hold an extral 10 liters of volume.
  • This backpack has plenty of features if you are looking for a technical option at a fair price: AIR concept back ventilation, rain cover, water bottle holder, hiking poles holder, 8 pockets and a compartment for a water bladder for easy hydration.
  • The AIR concept: in order for your back to dry faster, we added a mesh on top of a ventilated structure. Ideal for long and sweaty day hikes from one camp to another!
  • This is a men's backpack: This bag has been conceived for a masculine morphology (torso and hips). We recommend to stick to your gender when you choose a bag for comfort purposes when carrying it on your back.
  • 10-year warranty: the fabric of the bag is ultra resistant and Decathlon is proud to offer this warranty for any defect that could appear in the next 10 years.

Satisfaction

Unrivaled backpack, good quality, very light, ventilated. Multiple backpack from Decathlon and satisfaction again!

Truly a joy

Used for 15 days on hikes of 9 to 18 km per day, from 1000 to 2400m altitude per day, it was a joy, I was looking for a model with a net stretched in the back because it was much more comfortable (old experience) and I didn't like it. I was not disappointed, it is full of extra tips...I highly recommend it and must be 1kg less than my Millet of the same volume, which will now stay at home....I highly recommend the product and removing it from the catalog will be an error..

Nice sturdy backpack.

Hip and shoulder straps fit well. Very pleasant up to at least 10-13kg. The back ventilates well. Many pockets and bags also on the hip belt. Drinking bag and hose easy to install. Enough space for a summer hike with a tent.

Men's hiking backpack MT500 Air 60+10 l FORCLAZ

Variability, comfortable to wear, but for winter camping I would choose 10 l bigger.

Rather light. Very comfortable.…

Rather light. Very comfortable. Rather cheap. The fabric seems sturdy. I loved the housing to place the water bottle, easily accessible with the right hand without having to put the bag down (I am against water bags: risk of drilling or leaking). The lace to block it is very useful, otherwise it can fall when you bend over with the bag. The fasteners are a little too small, I hope they are solid and that they will hold up over time. It takes a bit of time to get used to it. It must not be easy to handle with gloves There are straps with fasteners in the main compartment but I don't see much use for them, especially since I store my belongings in plastic bags that pile up in the bag. Last detail that is important: I am 1m80 and by setting the setting to the maximum I am in abutment so that the carried is correct on the shoulders and on the hips. This is the only point that made me hesitate when buying but in the end it's ok. I therefore absolutely recommend that you try it with settings before buying it. In any case, I recommend, the volume is sufficient to go on an independent hike. I'm delighted, especially since my old bag (also decathlon) was 10 or 15 years old, I measure the significant progress made by the brand for this product.

very good bag

very good bag

Not bad

I used this bag for 8 days of walking last May (lodging + 4 days of food). The women's model being out of stock, I fell back on this one. I had tried the women's model in 50L but I still lacked a bit of space. The adjustment was not easy, the bag went down a little low (on the top of the buttocks) despite a substantial ventral tightening and therefore required to often raise it on the hips during walking. I am 1m70. I liked the fact that it is not pressed against the back. Too bad the pockets of the belt do not adjust. It is not easy to put the bottle back in the pocket provided without removing the bag.

Backpack Forclaz 60+10

He walked with me the Main Beskid Trail 502km and managed ... in total, the gross weight with food was about 17 kg and was carried comfortably for 16 days. When it rains, you should put on the attached cape because it gets wet quickly, but the ratio of quality and weight to price is unrivaled. Spacious side and front pockets, the flap will also fit a lot, but the water bottle holder rocks, there was a second water bottle in the other side pocket The pockets on the belt are capacious, in one pocket there is a wallet, a penknife, in the other quite a large phone I recommend !!! Minuses that can be dealt with/improved Lower straps for attaching additional luggage (a mat or a small tent), in my case a 1.5 kg tent, sometimes they can let go when putting the backpack on the ground, lifting it, putting it down ... and a few times the tent fell out of them on the way. I managed to attach it additionally to them. By attaching extra luggage there, the backpack is more stable when it is put down, it normally tips over, which can also be annoying

good product

used for my Fuji trip and good

Fantastic

Fully satisfied. Optimal measurements for a week in the mountains in a tent. The internal part is easy to manage to find everything comfortably. The pockets are roomy. The adjustable top pocket for when the last few things don't fit anymore. Very practical curtain hooks. The pocket for the backpack cover is no longer underneath, but in front and offers new usable space. The innovative bottle holder pocket allows you to take and store the bottle without having to remove the backpack from your shoulders.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric: 100.0% Polyamide ; Lining: 100.0% Polyester ; Yoke: 100.0% Polyamide ; Webbing: 100.0% Polypropylene ; Bag cover: 100.0% Polyester ; Coating: 100.0% Polyurethane

Dimensions

Height: 27.6” Width: 15.7”, Depth: 13.8”

Capacity

The bag has a 60 L (3661.4 in³) volume with an extra 10 L (610.2 in³) extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in liters, with a margin of error of just a few %.

Weight

3.9 lbs all-inclusive.Weight of the removable rain cover 3.5 oz

Air design

As with the MT900 UL line, the MT500 Air range has a ventilated back structure with mesh fabric (net fabric) that helps the back to breathe and dries quickly. Rigidity is guaranteed by a reinforced frame. The back is adjustable with a release strap that’s easy and quick to use.

Materials

Polyamide main fabric 210D RS (Ripstop = increased resistance to tears), reinforced bag base (420Dx330D RS)

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 33 lbs. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

How to pack a backpack

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece at hand. Place small items for daily use (sunblock, map, glasses, etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps

The new range of MT500 Air and MT900 UL bags has 2 straps with open aluminum buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.
